Quirky place “up the hill” in Harper’s Ferry. Welcoming atmosphere. Vintage building. Great selection of craft beers and wines. Offers unique food…fun stuff! Overall excellent experience.

Snallygasters is a hard name to remember. But I’ll never forget the amazing food and fabulous servers. I’ve been eating my way through West Virginia, and I’ve had lots of good pork. Yet nothing has come close to the perfection of this dish. The understated risotto with the flavor screaming pork is a perfect combination. The cheese and parsley were tasteful additions. If you come to Harpers Ferry and do not eat at this restaurant then you have erred. Don’t err, eat here.

Stopped in here for a drink on a rainy day and ended up coming back back for dinner later that evening. Great spot to check out if you are in the area! I had the braised beef & polenta and my fiancé had the pork & risotto. Both were amazing. Staff is very welcoming as well. We’ll definitely be stopping by again the next time we’re in town.

We loved this spot and it was the only place open in the evening by our airbnb in Harpers Ferry. We had a delicious meatball dish and I had a local beer while my sister had a gourmet iced coffee. There was hardly anyone there so we had the whole bar to ourselves. Our main complaint was that it was not open the following 2 days and they were out of a lot of menu items bc it was virtually the end of their week on a monday.

I swung by in the evening for a bottle of wine for home – great selection, and the bottle was lovely. Later, the whole family stopped by for a morning treat and then one more time for an evening snack and cocktails. Through all three experiences, the vibe was welcoming and relaxed, the crowd was calm and enjoyable, and the staff was vigilant and friendly. The cocktails were great. The snack plates we ordered got devoured. Such good bread – ask for extra! Warm brie and fruit and nuts. The roasted garlic was soft and fragrant. Glad we stopped in. Recommend it for a glass of wine or martini and a light plate, or morning coffee before hiking down the hill.

Wow! We are so grateful that we found this lovely gem. We sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by Jo. The space was warm and welcoming, couldn’t have felt more relaxed. We enjoyed some delicious wines before ordering salads and creamy chicken pasta and pasta printemps (vegan). Everything was delicious and flavorful. Of course we ordered the brownie sundae (baked on site). It was the best brownie I’ve ever tasted. Slightly crisp on the outside and warm and rich on the inside. Loved it!! I highly recommend this spot if you’re in HF, it’s a don’t miss. They also serve breakfast and lunch with lots of other baked goods and coffee options. I left with a full belly and a lovely bottle of wine. Thanks to the team at Snallygasters. You made our night ❤️

atmosphere is great, breakfast menu was okay. Nothing stood out. As advertised as a wine bar, there is no alcohol service before 1 but you can buy to-go beers. The actual customer service was extremely slow and they are clear to let you know they dont care and you are not a priority. We were never greeted and took over 10 minutes to be acknowledged while sitting at bar. Server had a poor attitude, did not care when tabs had errors and did nothing to apologize for the experience. Food took about another 30 minutes (it was a simple burrito). We had to ask to check out while standing in front of the register and the girl behind the bar was just sitting there. We also had merch we purchased which we also had to bring to her attention to check out…. staff clearly needs more training and to care what is happening.

This place was so nice, we went twice… in one day. The atmosphere was so inviting and so cute! Loved the decor! Such an amazing atmosphere they’ve kept that old time feel and serve delicious breakfast and coffee and we stopped back in for lunch which was equally amazing. It’s definitely worth the walk up the hill for some amazing food and very friendly people!

This place is gorgeous! Love the atmosphere! We were visiting from Gettysburg and stopped in before heading home. Found a sweet wine (Jam Jar) to take home and it was delicious!
