Some of the best (and really some of the only) Mexican food on Door county peninsula. It used to be more of a ramshackle watering hole, Which was part of its charm, But now it’s much more modern and has an artistic flair to it. Unusual art pieces on the walls and they got rid of the bar stools that look like people’s legs… I don’t know, I kind of wish they had held on to those. Menu feels a bit smaller but the quality of the food is still there, my Huevos Rancheros were great, Huge portion, A little bit of heat to the chorizo. I love the red salsa, I’m glad they kept that recipe. Waiter was kind and attentive and kept us stacked with tortilla chips. Really chill atmosphere, right on the water. Beats Chipotle by a country mile. My family and I will certainly be back… Maybe they will add some more items to the menu by then. Good visit.

So, the wife and I have passed this location over and over in its previous iteration, and we kept on saying that we need to stop in and try it. Unfortunately, it got sold. But lo and behold! Solago opened up about two weeks ago. Brand spanking new restaurant and today we had a chance to come and visit and we were not disappointed! The Mexican food was hot and tasty, and the drinks were good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We liked the atmosphere and the background music, light jazz, is a great idea. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to expand the menu a bit, but I think the owners are on the right track and definitely we will be recommending Solago to friends, family and of course whoever reads this review. A good asset to the Door!

Are you kidding? Can’t believe how amazing the food we ordered was! First of all Tortilla Chips and so flavorful Salsa with your meal; take-out or in house. Salsa was so good, we had to have two bowls!

Stopped in last night for dinner. Everything was great. Started with house margaritas, chips, salsa and quac. Dinner was skirt steak tacos. Our server Vicky was very attentive and understood menu to explain any questions. Will be back forsure

Food was ok. I was expecting more flavor and we both need to add some salt out tacos to make it worth it. Chips were good though.

Food was bland. One out of four dishes was good. Salsa bland. I was supposed to have a psteak burrito but I’m not sure what it was but it was terrible. Had to salt the Guacamole which happens at a lot of places.

Had expectations set high. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but this was pretty bad. Everything tasted several days old & reheated. Steak was dry and flavorless. Tinga was sopping wet and flavorless & soaked through shell. Margarita was less than average good. Guacamole not fresh tasting. Atmosphere was nice & help was polite, but you go out to eat for good food & drinks. Mexican food should be flavorful and offer spice. This place had neither. Everything looked pretty…. but that doesn’t cut it. Hoping they take the review and use it as a learning experience. The chips & salsa were good actually, but salsa had almost no spice. Many Mexican food lovers love spice. Offer some heat for those hot lovers!

The drinks were good, but the food was very lackluster. I would not call it authentic Mexican food at all. I ordered the fried avocado tacos (which were the only vegetarian taco option which is fine but a bit limiting), but they had no interesting flavor profiles at all which I would expect from good Mexican food. My husband had barbacoa tacos that were dense and chewy, and some of my party had theirs served cold (mine was warm though). I understand it’s their first week open, so I think the cold issue can be fixed easily, but without an improvement in the quality of ingredients I’m not sure how they can improve. Solago is in the same restaurant family as Wild Tomato which used to be amazing when they opened but the quality of ingredients tanked in the last few years, and that is reflected in the ingredients at Solago as well, even though the prices are the same.

Very disappointed! I had high expectations for the new restaurant. Perhaps it was because it just opened. The seasoning of the food was bland. We had to salt our enchiladas. There was no green sauce! What’s with that? The margaritas were average! Service was good but the it was very crowded with minimal decor. I will go back to try other dishes because I want it to succeed!

New owners must have only purchased the building. Salsa and chips are worse than La Porta as well as the margaritas. The menu is very limited on options. Our food was bland. I had steak tacos that had zero seasoning. My wife’s barbacoa tacos were dry. If you’re on the south end of the county save the drive and go to old Mexico. Service wasn’t great either. Had to ask for napkins and utensils as we weren’t given any.
