Just good simple Hawaiian BBQ. Hawaiian BBQ located in a bar, went there for lunch based upon a recommendation and don’t regret it one bit. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and drizzled with just a wonderful sauce. The steak was portion size right and had good flavor paired well with the sides. This place didn’t try to be anything extra than just a simple good Hawaiian barbecue spot and that’s what you got. If you’re trying to find something else extra not the spot however if you want to go to a low key restaurant that does great Hawaiian Barbecue this is your spot. Stop by the bar for a drink on the way out and you’ll have a good time.

Representing Hawaii right here! My wife and I just relocated from the island of Kauai, Hawaii and I’ve been craving for some good local grinds. I previously went to another establishment touting to be “Hawaiian” food, but was sorely disappointed. I won’t mention names here, but you can look at my past reviews and see! A tried and true local Hawaiian dish is the Spam Musubi. It isn’t simply putting a piece of fried spam on some rice and wrapping it in nori. Real musubi is marinated in a sweet sauce and Solid Grindz gets the gold star for this because not only do they cook it in the sauce, but they provide a little cup with it on the side. This is a first for me and I loved it! Plus to get 3 for $5 is incredible. For me another true test of Hawaiian flavor is Kalbi. I normally don’t eat Kalbi unless I cook it because I like more leaner cuts of meat, but I gave it a try and the flavor exploded in my mouth or as us locals like to say “broke da mouth!” haha My wife had the teriyaki chicken and it was delicious. I had to meet the owner and tell them how happy I was to find my new local restaurant here in Tucson and I found out that it is a husband and wife team along with an aunty that make up the management of Solid Grindz. Their philosophy is to keep it small and personal and I appreciate that. Because they get so busy during the week they don’t serve loco mocos and only make it on Saturday, so it looks like we’ll be making a visit this Saturday too! Mahalo from this braddah missing the islands…

First time coming here was a few days ago and I got the “spam” fried rice with terry and tuna Mac. I did not like the rice at all, didn’t bother eating it. It was too mushy and wet feeling? Can’t describe it. But the rest of the food was amazing especially the tuna Mac

Had this place about a month ago. I had the fried rice and it was incredibly good. My wife had some kind of fried chicken and that was also really good. I really want to go back to this place, however they close super early and haven’t been able to make it back. If they could just stay open for like an hour or two longer, then this place would be easier to return.

I was so excited to hear there was a Hawaiian restaurant nearby! Solid grindz did not disappoint! Their meats were delicious and moist and the Mac salad was amazing. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu. I’m especially excited for the poke. I will add more photos as I try more stuff!

Wow wow wow!! This food was so delicious. From the Kalbi beef to the teriyaki chicken. Both meats were seasoned so well. Tuna max salad was on point! Spam Musubi was also really good. Can’t wait to go back one day! My brother lives in the area and comes here all the time. My favorite recommendation.

This is a bar with a small counter to order food in a corner. Tables are all in the bar. Loud music on speakers, multiple tv screens, pool tables. Not dining atmosphere. They seem to do mostly takeout business so I guess it’s ok, except I imagine during busy times the food line is out the door and people waiting for food are tripping over bar patrons.

I like the Hawaiian food but the atmosphere was kinda confusing. Bar on the outside, bar on the inside except for the back left corner which is Hawaiian themed. A lot more kids running around the bar at 5pm on a Saturday than I was expecting. Kalua pork was pretty watery but the Mac salad and chicken katsu made up for it.

Best Hawaiian food in Tucson, far superior to the rest. The food is full of flavor and I can eat off the same plate for 3 different meals. I love it!
