Service was efficient and pretty fast (45 min) for a Sat night in peak season. Fish and chips were really good. The steamed clams, though really fresh, were really sandy with a lot of sediment, so just be aware. Linguine is very overcooked which really impacted flavor. Corn was also really over cooked! While I love the concept and want to support this company, they should try to raise the quality of preparation for the price….seafood is fresh but the preparation is poor for some key dishes. We definitely won’t be back this season. Last season we had the same problem with the super sandy, gritty clams.

Decided to try something different and WOW! We plan on coming back every year we visit Avalon. We had a party of 11 and they were quick to accommodate us and did an amazing job. Food was hot and fresh! Best shrimp I have ever had! We had crab cakes, lobster roll, flounder, Mahi.. all of it AMAZING! Everyone there was so kind and quick to help. Spent time talking to our kids, which they loved. We will definitely be back!

Fresh seafood, prepared simply, friendly service, super casual BYOB outdoor patio. We have struggled to find great seafood down here, which is hard to believe, but we will be back to Son of a Sailor. Even the steamed vegetables were delicious. 8 thumbs up.

Son of a Sailor has some of the freshest seafood my family and I have had in our 30+ years of visiting Avalon. Can’t recommend the takeout enough, and the staff makes you feel right at home. We’ll be coming back next year, and this is sure to be a new staple during our yearly visit.

Have ordered take out from similar places up and down the east coast for years, and every time we were underwhelmed. Son of a Sailor is top notch, unmatched in our experience. We had 6 entrees, all excellent. Highly recommend. Come to Avalon every year and we will be back for sure.

First time we visited while staying in Avalon. We were extremely pleased with the lobster roll. It was packed with big pieces and delicious. Can take out or eat outside at tables in a little courtyard. BYOB

Good portions, lobster roll was full of lobster and the blackened mahi sandwich was so big it was hard to hold together. Fries were crunchy and delicious. A great choice for lunch at the shore.

Just had take out from here tonight. I ordered the grilled tuna, fries, and a baked potato. My wife had broiled scallops, corn, and a baked potato. Everything was amazing. Portion size was large and we couldn’t finish. Great newish restaurant

The lobster bisque was excellent! We enjoyed grilled shrimp entrees. Flavorful and plenty of well prepared shrimp, nicely sautéed vegetables and coleslaw. The shrimp scampi pasta was very simple but flavorful. Can not wait to go back again!
