I’m not one to normally leave a bad review but this had to be the worst soul food experience I’ve ever experienced. After just feeding my family of 4 at the pizza spot for $36 dollars, I come here and spend $30 for this. My card was ran before the price was even given to me. Now the brisket was cooked good, but why put the sauces on top knowing y’all bbq is spicy? And these yams….buddy….the worst. The mac and cheese had the weirdest smell I’ve ever smelled. And I couldn’t really take more than 2 bites. Why someone would purée yams is kinda interesting to me I can’t believe I just paid $30 for this plate. And then they stare at you while you eat waiting for your reaction. Terrible terrible terrible. Wouldn’t recommend a place that can’t figure out Mac n cheese ♂️

HORRIBLE, scratch that inedible. When I came a woman was complaining about her food ——I just thought she was being picky, I wanted this place to be good so bad, so I of course ignored that and went ahead and ordered candied yams and Mac and cheese sides. The mac and cheese was rough, probably one of the worst I’ve had but not the worst I know is out there—as in to some people, it might be tasty…. Though I know good & decent mac and cheese…. Now why did I say inedible… this has to be the worst candied yams on earth… first of all there was barley any yams it was smashed/crushed/blended brown goo. It somehow tasted more like beans than sweet candies yams (heavy cross contamination I imagined) THERE WAS A BLACK SHED PIECE FROM SOMETHING, maybe a pot… I took like two bites and threw it all away. I want my money back, even if it were a bad day, good businesses don’t continue to serve rotten food. 0 stars :/

Ordered the catfish and shrimp combo with 2 sides of your choice. I ordered the candied yams and macNcheese. We also had banana pudding & rum cake with ice cream for dessert. It was all delicious!

The Mango Kool Aid and shrimp are delicious but the rest is honestly “meh”. The mac and cheese weirdly tasted like fish and I really could only take a few bites.The corn was just plain gross, it was so bad I tried to exchange it with another side. They were like “nah we don’t do that”. My chicken was burnt but hey they put it in there and sent it right on out anyway. The struggle is real for quality soul food in Arizona and my hunt definitely continues. I had high hopes for this place. Based on other reviews, maybe I just came on an off day or something.

Excited to see soul food in a food court! Unfortunately my experience kinda sucked. Ribs were good. Greens were meh. The fries were soggy. Kool-aid was good . For the meal in the picture including the kool-Aid I paid just under $30! Not worth it in my opinion. Not only was most of the food lacking in flavor(minus the ribs they were good) they charge $1.62 for a refill on kool-aid. That’s just disrespectful man.

This is the type of food you’d expect at a food court, just a splash more homey, which is a good thing. I really wanted to give this place a 2.9 ⭐⭐⭐ but TBH if I could give Cheddar’s a 3-star, I’ve clearly lowered my standards & in the words of Judge Mathis “I’m giving 2nd chances”. Honestly I only tried 3 sides & 1 dessert so judge my review as you wish.

Awesome food! I’m excited to see something at the mall other than the usual chains. These guys are putting in work, their food speaks for itself. I got the catfish basket. It was a little spicy with a perfectly crisp breading and a generous amount of nice soft fish inside. Be sure to plan around what you want to order (on Mon/Tues they only do baskets with fries, on Fri/Sat they have BBQ ribs and chicken). The food is a little bit more of a wait than the chafing dish stuff next door, but its better quality and hasn’t been sitting there all day getting dry, unlike next door… Hope this place does a lot of business!

For starters, I was asking about the food. The chef came over and started ranting on about. Do you go to Italian restaurants and ask them questions he was very rude. I give the food a six out of 10 may be would’ve been a little bit higher if this chef had better manners for his customers, hence the reason why they are slow all the time. By the way, they never answer the phone to do phone orders they’ve lost out on hundreds of dollars from my office wanting to try Soulfood.

This ain’t it. The rice didn’t have flavor and the greens might as well been seasoned with only mustard and ashes. The catfish was cooked well but the seasoning was mayo bland. The brisket tasted dirty. For $60, please go elsewhere.
