10% OFF IF PAYING WITH CASH. i stay in hoboken quite often for work and normally whenever i get dim sum cravings i hop on the bus towards manhattan and get my fix at awesum dim sum. this morning it was muggy and rainy so i decided to venture out and try out some new spots. i stopped by two other chinese dim sum spots but they all seemed overpriced and didn’t quite get a good vibe. this place is small but i was by myself. the menu and price was to my liking. they have a solid lunch menu that gives you a side of steam rice and a drink along with 8 or so entree options. i went with the chicken with garlic sauce/w chicken and asked for it spicy. it did not disappoint. i also ordered shrimp and pork siu mai (4). in the end, i only ate half of my plate which is perfect because i’ll eat the other half later this evening. i’ll def come back here.

Ok hear me out! Having lived in South east Asia I really love the service and the food ..it kind of reminds me of a bit of Singapore and bit of Hong Kong..This is a good restaurant with very versatile menu. Very vegetarian friendly and they have great choice of dumplings

I forgot to take photos of the food, but this is our new spot for Dimsum. It’s the second time I’ve tried dim sum, once in the city, and this place is amazing too. The chili oil, in particular, is so good. I wonder how they make that chili sauce, and the shumai is making me crave it so badly. We went here last week, and it was under renovation. Hopefully, it will be done soon, so we can go back there sooner.

I thought South Lions was dim sum only until I was browsing the menu one day because I had a Door Dash coupon. I was very surprised to find some classic Cantonese-style dishes I grew up eating. I ended up ordering the beef chow fun and some pork soup dumplings. The chow fun is pretty legit. The rice noodles are fresh and perfectly stir-fried. They also give an ample amount of tender sliced beef. The soup dumplings were only okay. I think the skin was a bit too thick. Food is pretty pricey overall – expect about a 30% mark up from a typical Chinese restaurant. But if you have a Cantonese food craving, and are willing to pay a premium for convenience, this might be a good option. I’ll be trying their salt and pepper fried squid next time!

Overall, this was a good dim sum food place you can get in the Hoboken area. We ordered a bunch of dim sum dishes and they were all tasty and fairly authentic. Staff there were also very friendly and accommodating. As a new establishment it seems like still getting setup, but still worth a visit for a quick bite.

I gave this place a 4-star review when it first opened. We were glad to have a place nearby to order good dim sum. We had since ordered from here many times.

The cuisine at this establishment is truly authentic and delectable. However, one must note that it has the feel of a Chinese takeout joint rather than a traditional sit-down restaurant. Seating is limited to a small number of counter stools, and customers are provided with an abundance of plastic containers, even for those dining in, rather than genuine plates and utensils.
