The search for the perfect cheeseburger continues! 4 stars for the ladies behind the counter at Southern Kitchen. Don’t be confused…it is a gas/convenience store, but the lunch counter is in there. Burger was tasty, juicy and served hot off the grill, but nothing extraordinary. Veggies were fresh and crisp, bacon was good and crispy the Texas Toast was nicely grilled too. My fries could have used another minute in the fryer, though the seasoning they use was good.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Houston. This place is great!! ! The food was terrific and so were the prices. The portions were big. The nice ladies who run Southern Kitchen sure know how to cook. Don’t let the idea it’s located in a shell station stop you from going. I had the smothered pork chops over rice with 2 sides it was the best. My wife had the chicken fried steak it was the best ever and huge. We couldn’t finish all the food and took the rest to go. They seem to cook like you are going to their house for Sunday dinner.

Now I was kind of skeptical about this place from the outside of it. My girlfriend and I gave it a try, she ordered the Hamburger steak sandwich, and I had the chicken fried chicken… let’s just say that we plan on coming back. Lol
