We had a great local Hawaiian dinner! The restaurant was quite busy with takeout and a handful of tables! The takeout order ahead of us was quite large and maybe should of been sign that our order would take awhile! The staff was absolutely amazing and so friendly and appreciative of us eating there! We both had variations of saimin. The food was very good and worth the wait! Our trip was filled with supporting local independent restaurants, food trucks , farmers markets and grocery stores!

Fantastic variety of Hawaiian and US-style food made with an emphasis on local ingredients and island style. The casual, yet clean and airy setting for eating in makes it a great place to meet with friends, and a quick and easy order-at-the-counter for eat-in or take-out system makes even long queues move quickly.

The Poke Bowl was pretty delicious with big chunk of fish and fresh veggie. Sauce was creamy and a little bit spicy, not a bad combination. The Chicken Katsu was over cooked and the meat was dry. The dish was still eatable, but even food truck vendors could do a better job for less money. The third dish we had was the Sesame Crusted Seared Ahi for $29. The Ahi covered by sesame tasted good, a little bit too salty to eat by itself but it was okay to eat with rice. However, I felt the potion of the fish was too little for the price of $29. We also ordered the Hurricane Fries, again the fries was overcooked and the sauce was too salty, maybe others would like it but just not my cup of tea.

I’ve been a supporter of South Shore Grindz since they opened. In the past few times I’ve visited, the quality of the food has been getting worse and worse. The prices steadily increase too. I came in for lunch at 10:45am on a Saturday. No one was in the restaurant and they were still serving breakfast. I waited till they started lunch orders at 11am. After ordering, I received this presentation for $18 (see photo). The bun looks like it’s been sitting at the bottom of a freezer, old and defrosted. The fries were soggy with oil. I only ate the fish patty. I messaged management through their website to give me a call about this experience before posting this publicly and no one called or messaged me back. This visit was the last time I will support this business.

I have no idea why this restaurant has such a good review. None of the noodle dishes were fully cooked (tasted raw ingredients) and seasoned so poorly. Salad was scary to eat as it smelled already bad. What a waste of money, and it ruined a fond memory of vacation.

Came here for lunch and ordered the Mochiko chicken. Pretty decent portion size for the price — about $20. Staff was friendly and order came out pretty quick for take out. Flavor was okay but food was fresh.
