Front door opens to bar seating and has good personality. There is little to no wait before being greeted and table service is friendly. Menu selections are diverse and foods are flavorful. The starter in shot glasses was not ordered but was delicious. Grilled Swordfish was beautifully presented and equally satisfying. We regret ordering the Cheeseburger and could have given a four-star review without it. The Toffee Danish Roll is underrated and no meal here is complete without a French Press. The inside of the building was nice. It was dark, not too dark. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk too. They also knew their product very well. The food was delicious. I would definitely check this place out while visiting Philly.

The quality of the food here, both in terms of ingredients and preparation, is simply exquisite. That considered, the merely slightly pricey menu is a bargain. This is fine dining, so the portions are reasonably modest, but appetizer + entree + dessert are plenty of food, and all can be had for under $100 pp even with a glass of wine or a cocktail.

Had a fabulous dinner with friends at this quaint beautiful place. Dining here feels like your eating at your grandmas house (in a good way) it’s so homey and the atmosphere is great. The food and cocktails are all exquisitely thought out. Bit of a small menu but that’s ok because the choices are great. Had the chicken liver mousse, mussels escabeche, and the gnocchi with short rib ragout. Everything was so incredibly delicious and worth the price. Cocktails are expensive but STRONG. Also got free homemade icecream for my friends birthday!

If you’re feeling spendy and casual all at once, you can’t do much better than a meal at Southwark. The cocktails tend sweet, but they’re always thoughtful and balanced. The food leans salty, but it’s full of impressive flavor and house-made ingredients. The service is never anything less than excellent.

I selected this restaurant based on TripAdvisor reviews, and I was glad I did. We had an excellent experience. It was a pleasant evening when we dined there, and we were given the option to sit outside, which we did. They have a great patio space! They have a smallish menu, but could accommodate vegetarians, and were very willing to modify some of the pasta dishes at our request. Great choice of drinks. Very friendly efficient service. The ambiance and the overall dining experience lend itself to a well-deserved review of Excellent. Will be back.
