Half a rack with two sides, $28 with complimentary condiments. You’d have to go through a bar to get to Kat BBQ. Parking lot available next door. Delicious meat, would recommend.

Ordered the tri-tip, pork ribs, chicken thigh, slaw & baked beans to go. Wow, super tasty… a hidden gem. Not many places serve BBQ late too. 2 Giant Smokers right next to the food service truck in the back of Aero Club. My favorite was chicken thigh with tangy bbq sauce, so good. Crushed all the food!

Space Kat BBQ is absolutely the best in town. We HAD to try everything and honestly loved it all. Ribs were off the chain. Tri tip was so tender, so FUEGO. Pulled pork: I’ll die happy. They actually stuff their own darn sausage and the sides were all just as good as the meat. Aero clubs drinks are great but this food is phenomenal; highly recommend this gem.

Hankering for some BBQ after a hard day? Look no further than Jacks ‘Space Kat’. I arrived after 9 with my daughter. We went through the bar, turned left down the hallway and viola, standard issue BBQ picnic tables. Then I saw the fairgrounds issue shiny black and chrome food service trailer parked next to two giant outdoor smokers. The smokestacks must be 14 feet high. They were pumping out delicious smelling smokehouse delights. We went straight up to the cashier. He was chill and ready for our order. The order of beans, mac-n-cheese, tri-tip, ribs, hot-link and brisket was delivered quickly. It was piled high and hot. The mac-n-cheese was great. The beans were delicious with a bit of spice. The tri tip, excellent. The brisket, excellent. The ribs though… probably the second best I have ever had. Cooked to perfection with the best glaze slowly fired in with attention and pride. These ribs were really meaty. Not the kind you need a full rack to get satisfied. Nope. Just perfect in every way. The sauces are different. One is sweet and not so rich to ruin the flavor of the meat. Another is sweet, sour and a touch bitter. Then the last one is kind of an Au Jus BBQ sauce. They all had me mixing and matching the entire meal. It was a real treat that I will re-visit for sure. Prices are right and the atmosphere is fun. Enjoy.

I ordered the 3 meat plate like I always do, I ate the ribs so many times and this time they gave me burned ribs, when I pointed it out they had the nonsense to tell me they were Texas style haha (don’t let a Texan hear that ) the attendant or server or cashier said he would replace them, waited 40 min, it never happened. I figured they need it more than I do. I ate here many times and the ribs used to be the best. On to the next spot ..

Tried out Space Kat BBQ in San Diego. Wonderful spread from Jack and Chloe (hope I spelled that right). The ribs were smoked then chargrilled right before serving (which gave them a great flavor), the tri-tip was a delight, as was the Mac and the tangy sauce was a clear winner. Don’t expect to have this kind of quality BBQ in San Diego. And it’s because Jack learned how to cook while in Austin, Texas, the epicenter of great BBQ. Make a beeline immediately here for a tremendously pleasant surprise
