We opened as a full service restaurant and bar in 2007 to serve our award winning food year round. Our Detroit Lakes location opened in 2018.
We think we have the “best staff in town” and we could not be successful without them.
We use made from scratch recipes with the freshest ingredients and premium cuts of meat. The menu features signature dishes that center on the distinctiveness of wood fired and smoking preparations.
The reason we can call our food award winning is because Spitfire has a competition BBQ team that enters contests all across the country.
We originally started as a seasonal, mobile business doing catering and vending from the Spitfire trailer you may see parked in our lot during the warmer months.

I wish it was better. When going to a beautiful restaurant with premium food the food should cost more and portions be smaller. With that, portions were very small so then quality should be higher. Not so much. My wife and I both had pasta with honey butter bread. Pasta was under cooked. Sauces missed their mark and seamed oily. The honey butter was bland. The strange thing is we both got stomach discomfort about 30 min after eating. I always give restaurants a second chance but I don’t know about going back. The Portions were small. Service was fantastic. I think the food needs some help to justify the price.

Called to schedule a reservation on Saturday morning, was told we didn’t need one on a Saturday for dinner. At the time we thought oh well, cool. Figured that wasn’t the case around mid afternoon so we called back & requested a reservation for 6, which they put us down for. When we arrived, the front desk didn’t have our reservation so we told them we called twice to try to schedule. Manager came out & had a table for us ready shortly thereafter, so at least we were seated. Service was good from then on. Food was so-so aside from the ribs (the ribs were honestly great). Overall it was a mediocre experience

Came to a favorite place after not being here for a while. Almost immediately we were disappointed. I dont know who manages it now, but they’re a bad planner. Can’t go sit in the bar anymore unless it’sUP AT THE BAR.. we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. There were literally 10 people (6 tables) taken. Once inside, we were told its another 20 minute wait to get our food order in because the ‘kitchen is backed up’ THERE’S NO ONE HERE! One shining aspect was the servers tho!! Needless to say, they don’t get the reasoning of management either.

The restaurant is delicious and attentive servers. We got them to cater our wedding because we loved the food. They staying in good contact with us throughout the ordering process. They arrived exactly on time and were ready to serve early, which everyone appreciated. Laurie had great recommendations for food that travelled well, and she was spot on. I think the general favorite side was the baked beans with rib meat. I’d go with them over any catering service in the DL area.

We stopped in on our way back from perham. Nice atmosphere! Salmon dinner was superb so good if you love fish! My husband liked his rib sampler and my son his Flatbread pizza! I would stop by again!

I’m a food delivery guy and I do DoorDash here. I find that every time I take an order from this restaurant in the evening, I have to wait 1 hour. This speed is a waste of time for me and my clients. I think the owner of this shop should strengthen the training of kitchen chefs and give priority to takeout. Clearly, the store has not stepped up in this regard. You are not the only American restaurant in this area, there are many others by the lake, they never let me, the delivery guy, wait more than 10 minutes, I can understand the busy time, but I don’t understand if waiting for an hour Is it the chef’s problem? And what does it feel like to wait for an hour for customers?
