Definitely not what I expected. I ordered the small fried chicken, which came with 2 sides, and a banana pudding. The yams were delicious, but the chicken was super salty, the mac and cheese taste like they dumped way too much bagged Kraft Mexican cheese in it and where do I begin with the banana pudding. I didn’t even eat it. It went straight into the trash. Look at the picture and you’ll see why.

We visited on a Friday at noon. I had a fried pork chop with macaroni and cheese, and candied yams. I loved the pork chop and macaroni and cheese. The candied yams had a little too much allspice seasoning for me. But I would definitely eat there again to try more options available. My husband had fried catfish, fried okra, and macaroni and cheese. He liked everything!

If you’re reading this….stop….and just go here. The food was phenomenal. I took a picture of my chicken tenders but my son’s wings and BFFs fried pork chop were all delicious. The food and batter are all seasoned so well. The service and people were the sweetest. Just go. You won’t regret it…..unless you don’t like flavor

This was absolutely gross. It’s supposed to be a fried porkchop but it’s clearly grayish and falling apart. Meat was thick and rubbery. Mac and cheese was good but, it had cold shredded cheese on top which kinda ruined it. It was very expensive and when i showed them this, it’s almost like they didn’t see what the problem was with the food. I wish they would’ve given me something else or a refund as it was like $21 and I did not eat it. The owner is very sweet and this place has potential. I think they were just having a bad day because i saw someone else’s pork-chop that looked way better a couple days before which is why i even went in the first place.

Was trying a few new spots in the Penn Square Food Court and couldn’t resist some Spunkie’s. Delicious soul food that has some all time favorites. I went with the fried okra, mac and cheese, and D’s strawberry cake. All of it delicious and sure to make you full. I have had their BBQ meatballs in the past and would also recommend those. Great to see Soul Food in Penn Square!

Really great food with a really great crew. I grabbed a catfish basket and strawberry cake. The basket came with a fried filled of catfish, fries, and a slice of bread. Everything was well seasoned and the fish was really beautifully cooked with a great ratio of breading to fish. The cake was absolutely delicious as well. Everything was really reasonably priced, I can’t wait to go back to try out the rest of the menu. Definitely recommend.

Food is mediocre, expensive for the quantity of food on the plate. Might be soul food and not fast food but wow, I don’t wait that long at any quality restaurant. One small cup of sauce for an entire plate of chicken strips.
