As chef Sunny Gerhart puts it: It’s a little nod to New Orleans, but it’s not any sort of traditional New Orleans menu. It’s not New Orleans deconstructed, either. The menu here reflects a decidedly Southern, by way of New Orleans, interpretation of North Carolina seafood — Creole spices and flavors enliven the bounty of Southern farmers, oyster beds and fishers.
Raw & roasted oysters take center stage on a curated menu of New Orleans–inspired fare. Based on 808 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.7 stars. Price $$

This is more of a 4.5 star review. The food is phenomenal, full stop. We had the boudin, some roasted oysters, frog legs, and gumbo & grits.

Always a great atmosphere inside the restaurant! The food is also always good. I ordered the roasted oysters, half BBQ and the other half pimento cheese oysters. My hubby had the red beans and rice with andouillie sausage. We also had fried oysters and shrimp. You must save your appetite for the warm, powdered beignets with carmel sauce!!! The atmosphere directly outside of the restaurant is a whole other experience! I will just say keep walking and ignore the folk hanging outside of the restaurant.

We were seated quickly. However, we waited more than 10mns for anyone to come to our table to take our drink order. It seemed like there wasn’t anyone assigned to our table or they didn’t know they were assigned. When the waitress finally came, she was very apologetic and pleasant. She explained the menu options and asked if we had any questions, engaged in small chitchat and laughs. Our food arrived in a timely manner. It was good, but not really my type of taste. The sausage had a flavor different than what I imagined it would be, but the rest of my group enjoyed their food.

I have no idea why I have not been here before but it’s probably because I was not aware of the vegetarian options. I loved the venue instantly. The lighting is warm and cozy and the exposed brick and decor is perfect. I loved the smoked pimento cheese and cauliflower in curry, pomme frites (not fried in duck fat!) and the bread! My dinner mates enjoyed the striped bass, strawberry and beet salad, frog legs, oysters and

This. Place. Is. Heaven! Best oysters in the state. Every single item on the menu is delicious. We drove an hour and half just to have an anniversary meal! They had initially seated us at the wrong table, but it was quickly, politely fixed. The service and food cannot be beat. Want a taste of New Orleans without the cliche? This is your joint. From frog legs to shrimp and grits, this place will knock your socks off!

Loved the southern, creole vibe. Nico was our waiter and was very attentive and made awesome suggestions. There were so many delicious options on the cocktail and dinner menu to choose from! We ended up getting crab claws, gator bolognese, gumbo, and beignets for dessert! We got there early enough to enjoy the happy hour oysters, (and an oyster shot) they were great and the reduced price point was fitting. We had a great experience start to finish! Definitely give this place a try if you are in downtown Raleigh and looking for a place for fresh and unique dishes!

I loved the ambiance; the oysters tasted yummy, the drinks were so good, and we had a fantastic server. Still, the bread used in the Cajun breakfast I ordered was really dry and significantly took away from how great everything else on the plate tasted.

Thoroughly enjoyed everything we had for brunch after hopping in to this charming old-feeling establishment to dodge some unexpected rain drops late morning in downtown Raleigh. Had the yogurt (ok adding za’atar to this was a bit repugnant to me), sinner buns (delectable treat) and loaded breakfast biscuit with Parmesan instead of pimento (pro tip from the wait staff). Would definitely come back for happy hour oysters/bites and brunch again to try more of the menu.
