Stagioni – Four Seasons of Food Menu – Charlotte, NC

Type : Italian restaurant

Location : Charlotte, NC

It had to be an Italian restaurant; Chef Bruce Moffett knew it as soon as he stepped foot in “the Villa.” People had gathered in the historic home for good food, fine wine, and great company since the doors first opened in 1926, and he couldn’t wait to carry on that tradition with Stagioni: flavors and experiences made in the moment, steeped in the legacy of grand parties.
The Villa was once home to world traveler and legendary hostess Blanche Reynolds Gormajenko. She was known for eccentricities: men reading poetry to her guests from the trees, a pool filled with Champagne, séances at the stroke of midnight. Today, Stagioni pays homage to her inspired standard of hospitality, good times, and grand theatrics.

Classy eatery featuring a seasonal menu highlighting modern takes on classic Italian dishes & a bar. Based on 413 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $$$

Had a great experience at Stagioni in Charlotte, NC. Really pretty interior and cozy. Was dark- probably good for a date night. The food was really good. I had the ricotta trio- was 3 servings of ricotta cheese with herb, honey and truffle. It came with pizza bread. Was flavorful and delicious and the bread was perfectly salted. I had the little queen pasta- had short rib and broccoli rabe. Was probably one of the best pastas I’ve had in Charlotte but the portion was small and it was expensive ($32). For dessert I had a scoop of the brownie gelato. Was super chocolately and had great texture. My friend didn’t have the best experience. She ordered the mussels and one was bad but they took it back and refunded her. She’s also gluten intolerant and she ordered the gluten free chocolate cake. It came with biscotti but she wasn’t sure if that was gluten free (it was). I feel like the server should have mentioned that first. Still giving it 5 stars bc those things are minor. Will definitely go back and try other things. Oh- the parking is horrible- give yourself 10 mins.

I would say 5 stars for the food but I’m gonna go with 4 because of how crowded and loud it was. Our server Michael was great, kept everything moving and was around as needed. The food was fantastic – the focaccia and ricotta trio were top notch. I’m still thinking about that the next day. Absolutely would return.

There was not a single disappointing thing about this place. Perfect date night location. You know a place is good when you could go and just get bread and be completely satisfied. Focaccia loaf was the best bread I’ve ever had at any restaurant. Ricotta trio was delicious. The best part was the mortadella pizza. Tagliolini was amazing too. We even got Zeppoli to go and it was nothing short of amazing. You can go all out here and still not break the bank. My wife and I will definitely be back.

I have not had every pizza in Charlotte to know for sure but this was by far the best pizza I have had in Charlotte. Pepperoni and Cheese to absolute perfection. The flavor was out of this world. The pacing of the food was great from apps, to entrees, to dessert. Enough time to sit back digest and have a drink if you so choose to. Everything else we had was great including a special app they had for just the night. Plan a date night or group dinner and enjoy yourself.

We came here for our anniversary dinner, and it was just perfect. We started with the raw oysters and squash blossoms. The squash blossom dish is unique, and was one of my favorites of the evening. Then we went with two pastas and the swordfish for the next course. I can’t remember the name, but the truffle pasta with porcini was fantastic. Favorite dish. We ended with the zeppoli, which was a fairly large portion compared to the other dishes. Five dishes plus dessert was the right amount for us. Great meal and service!

In any proper review you must always start with the positives: the architecture of the building is very special and reminiscent of being in perhaps a foreign country. The interior is low lit and great for a date night. Now, onto a few things that grinded my gears. First, the server had mentioned the portion sizes were small and they took pride in the fact that they aren’t wasting food. The flip side to that is that I ordered a pizza and rigatoni (essentially two main courses) and I still left hungry. The total damage was $130 for two glasses of wine, the two aforementioned items and $48 scallop dish and my date and I both contemplated eating something after dinner. When the pizza was served I was presented a pizza accompanied by scissors at which point you are then forced to cut your own meal. Similar to the self checkout lines at grocery stores which I always avoid, I don’t want to pay for a service and then be put to work. Moreover, the pizza needed a bit more salt so I asked the person making the pizza for some (I was sitting at the counter overlooking the kitchen). He said he wasn’t able to reach over the counter per kitchen rules but instead of going to grab the chef or my server or anyone else that could help me he simply said “ask your server they will have to do that”. So I had to wait until my server surfaced again.

Giving 4 stars specifically for our waitress Jenny. My wife and I wanted to enjoy ourselves and have a date night. When we walked in the host asked us if we had a reservation. When we told him no he wasn’t exactly kind in letting us know what was available.
