Don’t pass on the Rubin to go! We had a celebration at the office and the tray we received was perfect for the event. The Deli food in Michigan sets our state apart from others. The quality of our deli food, and the care of each deli to bring top food options to us, makes Star Deli the best option for lunch, dinner, catering…. I stopped in today and spent $38 on various food items which I have absolutely no problem doing. One of the items was a quart of kreplach soup. I asked if I could have some crackers for my quart of soup, and the lady at the counter gave me two packets of saltines. I asked if I could have two more packages and she told me that would be a charge. I believe she said a dollar maybe I’m wrong. I honestly thought she was joking, but she was dead serious. She said this is the way the boss does it because food costs have gone up. Then she proceeded to tell me that when she goes to McDonald’s and asks for extra ketchup, they charge her for extra ketchup, which to me had nothing to do with crackers at Star Deli. I am also guessing she did not spend $38 at McDonald’s. Star Deli owner please do not let a nickel hold up a dollar!

Hands down the best corned beef around. I see the complaints about prices… have you been to any other WB deli? If so you will see even higher prices. The cost of everything has skyrocketed, can’t blame them for wanting to stay in business. A jimmy John’s slim Jim is now $9. As for the service, I agree with some of the comments. I am here every weekend and they just don’t care anymore. Walk in and the only one in there and no one says a word. Not even a “I’ll be right with you”. If you don’t need great service but want great deli meat, this is still the best spot in town.

I came here with the highest of hopes, to see if they are any better than Steve’s Deli up the road (which I like). So much for first impressions. Star Deli is small, dimly lit, and nothing fresh is on display (I think the refrigerated display case said it was out of order maybe – totally empty) – but worst of all for me, was just standing there like a dope while the workers (with unhappy faces I might add) did not even acknowledge my presence – I was the only person there and apparently it was too much trouble for them to greet me – zero eye contact… so I left and never got to try their food. I will not go back and I resent that they wasted my time.

I ordered a corned beef and pastrami sandwich ( it’s called Harry’s sandwich) and it didn’t have a lot of meat on it , for $16.99 youd think itd come with 8 or 9oz of meat but it appeared as if there was barely 4oz of meat. I was happy with everything except for the most important part of the sandwich and that’s the meat. Star deli please make sure that your customers get their money’s worth and put more meat, especially at them high prices that you charge.

I won’t be spending my money here, based off customer service alone. Me and my boyfriend first time there and everyone was impatient and rude. They act like we was already suppose to know there whole menu and how they do things. For the price of the food, I would expect better customer service, yea I’m good.

4 star for the price but nevertheless it is a good deli with family service. Seems to be a stable in Southfield it is right off telegraph Rd so it is pretty easy to go there. Better than Potbelly’s across the street for sure.
