It was insanely busy and the staff still provided fast and friendly service. We got a pound of bbq pork with mild sauce, potato salad, and slaw. It was so, so good. I wish they had baked beans on the menu, but the other sides are so good it’s definitely not a deal breaker. My family and I will definitely be back and I’m really looking forward to it.

My late father’s favorite BBQ place. I absolutely love the BBQ sauce – it’s simply the best. Great prices, excellent food and service. Highly recommend…..

My friend and I were on our way from Kansas to Georgia to work at camp, and our car broke down and had serious issues.

Not too many things last for 5 years anymore… this place has lasted for more than 100 years! As you look around the packed location, the diverse people that show up can’t be understated… people in their 90s to kids in their teens – not even related show up to this iconic location. The price is $3.25 sandwich; where else can you find that now for quality food. I had the beef sandwich; upon recommendation from the two elders to my right, added the Bologna too and thankful for the recommendation. likely the best Bologna I’ve tasted ever.

So… this spot is run by some really neat people. Paducah wasn’t even on the map for me before Monday. Moving to a different state, my transmission went out near this town. It was late, so me and my friend got motel rooms for the night and in the morning, took my car to the local dealership to check out and run diagnostics. We found this lil bbq spot and ate lunch there, and the care we felt from the folks behind the counter was a sweet testimony of the Lord’s goodness. Despite a busy, full clientele we were served quickly; the food was delicious and it was fun to see the locals interacting with a lot of friendliness.

I grew up in Paducah and ate at Starnes many, many times. The sauce is so good I now order it and keep it in stock and I live in Kansas City, the supposed bbq capital of the country! BBQ beef is the staple here with sweet, gooey sauce. I have a pork shoulder cooking as I write this. Starnes sauce is waiting on the counter!

Always fast, courteous, friendly service. As far as my family is concerned, Starves is THE BEST place to get a quick lunch that tastes great.

This place is quaint and unique, the gals working there are quick and pleasant. Food was delicious and I can’t speak enough for how good the potato salad was. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend anyone to stop into for a local and affordable bite to eat

My wife has been coming here since she was a kid. Swears that it hasn’t hardly changed. Good chopped pork sandwich (everything is served with perfectly buttered Texas toast). They have some other choices (did I hear you say bologna?) but we always get the pork. Get a side of cole slaw or potato salad and a tea and enjoy! It’s a local place for sure. Get a candy bar out from behind the counter for old times sake! Always great service.
