Steinkeller – Literally translated, it means Stone Cellar. The name is often associated with the German drinking vessel known as a STEIN, but there is no actual connection. Our large beer mug is an authentic German import called a KRUG or a MASS, rather than a stein, which is a ceramic item.
Steinkeller was founded in the year 2000 with the purpose of bringing an authentic Bavarian beerhall to Southwestern Ohio. Located in historic Uptown Oxford, we are proud to serve Oxford, Miami University and the surrounding area. Stop in and try one of over 15 different authentic German biers along with a schnitzel and spätzel or our famous Reuben.

Had a fun dinner here with the family. Friendly hostess and server. We got mostly appetizers. The dinner my husband and daughter they said was delicious. I am vegetarian and there were some good options for me. Would definitely come back.

Loved everything! The beer, the pretzel appetizer, the Reuben were all fantastic! My wife’s meal was amazing also! Dining area was very quaint and our server, Tess, was great. She offered excellent suggestions. We’ll definitely go back to try more items on the menu. Highly recommend if you like German food and beer!

We were there on a Thursday which is their wiener schnitzil special. Complete menu was not offered. Generous portion and schnitzel was good. I had schnitzel on a bed of spatial noodles and mushrooms. Good atmosphere will return to try the full menu.

Purely authentic German public House. Wonderful sauerkraut mashed potatoes and bratwurst. The pretzel was bigger than a human head and my wife said the sauerkraut balls were better than she’s ever had.

I absolutely love the Steinkeller. A hidden gem. Consistent at providing great service, a large German beer selection and quality food. Pictured you will find items from the brunch menu and of course, a Erdinger Hefe-Weizen beer. Flavor abound from Brunch King Ludwig. I hope Steinkeller brings back the Eggs Benedict Smoked Salmon. Beer menu and dinner menu pictured. Also included pictures of the Holsteinerschnitzel, Jagerschnitzel and spinach salad. Dinner and brunch here has never disappointed. They take pride in their work.

This is a nice restaurant. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. This restaurant has numerous German foods, such as bratwursts, Bavarian pretzels, and wiener schnitzel, which was very good. The Wiener schnitzel was around 7-1 inches in diameter, and it came with French fries, the option of salad, and jelly with a lemon garnish on top. I also tried some cheese curds, which tasted great, and a sauerkraut ball, which I didn’t like that much, but that’s because I don’t like sauerkraut. The waitress serving me gave great service and was pretty funny, which was nice. I gave this restaurant five stars because it has good food and I received good service. This restaurant also has a nice atmosphere and numerous German decorations, such as scarves of various German soccer teams and a Stiegl beer sign, which is actually from Austria. The beer menu of this restaurant was very large and had many German brands of beer, but I didn’t try any because I’m not 21.

My family really enjoys eating here whenever we get the chance. The decor and atmosphere are so fun and unique. Even our out-of-town relatives still talk about eating here. I personally love the bratwurst platter with the pretzel stick, mustard and sour kraut. Their beer selection is very good and it is always fun to try a new one.

Don’t go to Sunday lunch as most of the German food is not served. Prices are pretty steep and portions small – our chicken fried pork schnitzel came with gravy and like 2 onions and no peppers – it is not much for what you pay. Food was above average and it is nice to get traditional German Bier. The place is locked like a dungeon during COVID, so we stayed out in the cold hallway waiting a call, but the students seemed to get let in by the staff without waiting.
