We create an entirely new menu every Friday based upon unusual local and exotic ingredients. Our influences come from our fresh ingredients and flavors from across the globe. We call our constantly changing menu Food Evolution and we start the process by composting all veggie scraps out at our Tiki Farm. In fact, we are growing unusual veggies and fruits to further drive our creativity! Also – we have our own Food Evolution Lab, where we use various techniques of lacto-fermentation and Koji to drive flavors to the next level!!! Come check us out – we cook because we love to create fabulous dishes & introduce people to unusual flavor combinations. Every Thursday is Taco Night & we do brunch Saturday & Sunday. Open late at night!!

What a great evening at Suis Generis. The server/bartender is an incredibly kind soul – open, authentic, warm. We connected immediately. The drinks were delicious (and strong) – I had the housemade chili lime-ade with bourbon. Food was good – small plates are small, so if you have an appetite, get a larger plate. The atmosphere was super chill, and like other places I’ve experienced in NOLA, everyone is so friendly and generous with their kindness. So glad I tried this place.

Super fresh, super seasonal menu changing week to week. For locals a true blessing since so many restaurants in town have little impetus to change things since they rarely see there same customer twice in year. “When I was here five years ago you had this amazing blah blah blah why don’t you have that? I came back for that!”

This is an eclectic a little eatery in the Bywater district of New Orleans. We ended up here after the power went out for several blocks around our intended dinner spot. We were directed here by the locals from that restaurant and needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised! They offer several craft cocktails as well as a selection of bottled/canned beers. I had the Tiki Farm Basil Curry, which is a vegan green curry with tofu that was well prepared and delicious! There were a couple of other vegan and vegetation options on the menu as well. A friend ordered the Vasco de Gama Bouillabaisse and enjoyed it, but said he was not sure about the flavor combo, which was a lemon grass infused, Asian leaning concoction. My daughter had the Farmer’s Salad and the Heritage Berkshire Pork Chop accompanied by a Burmese-spiced coconut based sauce. Both were fresh and delicious. Our only complaint was that the menu was a bit scattered. Italian mezze, Thai curry, farmer’s salad, pork chop, Portuguese bouillabaisse, Asian fish cakes. I understand the whole fusion movement in dining, but not sure that they had it quite right. That said, I would definitely give this place another try. It seems that the menu changes and I would love to see what they come up with next.

There are three things I do when I go to New Orleans and eating here is one of them. Thanks again for an excellent food experience. The lasagna was fabulous and loved the cheesecake. See you next time!

I cannot recommend this place enough! My boyfriend and I have been many times and are always impressed with their shifting menu and creative choices! I had the best dirty gin martini here, and I love the calm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. It’s tucked away and feels like a secret gem. Can’t wait to go back again!

After visiting Suis Generis for the 3rd time, I have to leave it a 5 star review. The weekly changing menu is a fantastic idea and this restaurant always manages to deliver a delicious and experimental experience. I love visiting new orleans because of restaurants like this. The service is always kind, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is completely laid back. Just fantastic!

Excellent place, a little off the beaten path but the food is soooo good! Kind of hipster junk store decor, New American, farm to table style food, small but creative menu. Anytime I’m staying in the Bywater I come here.

Cozy atmosphere with a great and knowledgeable staff. The owners are good people who definitely put love into their food. Their menu changes but if there is a way for you to get the miso soup, DO IT!!! The chili-limeade with caçhaca was amazing. It was soo good, not only did we go for brunch but we ended up there for dinner as well. I look forward to going back!
