I had a fantastic experience at Sumi Sushi! The sushi was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared. I particularly enjoyed the Dragon and Tahoe Mountain, which had the perfect combination of flavors and textures. The service was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who made sure everything was just right. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, making it the perfect spot for a date night or a special occasion. Came here on a whim because our kids were very hungry. Everywhere else was too long of a wait or refuse to serve our party (5 adults and 5 kids). Called this place and they accomodated us. Glad we came here. Servers are nice and friendly. If you happen to meet or see the owner. Talk to him. Awesome guy! (Talking about you Uncle Joe). I don’t give any place five star. This will be my first five star ever! The extra star is for Joe!

Searching for the highest quality, most inventive sushi ends here if you live in the Reno/Carson/Tahoe area. Joe and Sherry have put together an extensive menu, drawing from the best sushi recipes, as well as creating their own. Using the top fish grade (1-5 scale – very important when choosing a sushi restaurant), they’ve established a destination in Carson (near the State Capital) that is well worth the drive from Reno or South Lake. Do yourself a favor and give Sumi Sushi a try.

The guy making our sushi was pretty slow, but it was clear he was new. We don’t generally make a fuss, but other servers noticed and picked up the slack. We only go a few times a year and there is an ever revolving staff, so we only recognised 1 person there. However, this was the first time when service was slow others stepped in. Y’all got a good team right now.

My husband and I had visited when it was the previous sushi place, and at that time, vowed to never return. Our boss insisted we try them again since Sumi had taken over. We agreed to try, and were so incredibly glad we did. The sushi was very good, the staff was great and our experience was pretty great too. We’ll definitely be back.
