I order food from here for take out so I can’t comment on the service or atmosphere but the food was horrendous. The rice tasted like dried out microwaved minute rice. The sushi had no flavor at all. The food was just gross and I tried saving with sauces but it’s just so bad.

I ordered take out and the food was absolutely disgusting. The rice was hard as a rock didn’t even taste cooked, the meat had no sauce or flavor to it at all and they charged me 4$ extra per meal to get rice instead of veggies with my hibachi. When I called to inquire about the extra 12$ in charges the women who answered the phone was rude and unhelpful and actually ended up hanging up on me

Not good. Overpriced and overcharged for a roll we didn’t even get and got the wrong roll. Waitress argued with my friend about it and then after we paid and left chased us out to our car to confirm she in fact had gotten the wrong roll. Bad quality sushi, sushi rice was hard and looked sloppy and was very very small. I’ve had much better sushi at grocery stores. Fried rice tasted like it sat for several days and then was reheated in a microwave. It was hard as a rock I didn’t even eat it. Charged over a dollar for a container of spicy mayo I only needed a small dollop of. Spring rolls are 2 spring rolls cut in half and put on a plate for like $7. Sushi lunch special wasn’t available because it was Memorial Day? You’d think if they were open on the holiday they would still also do lunch specials. No mochi available. Tiny portions for the price you pay. Overall just wouldn’t waste my money going here again when there are plenty of places that are much better and more professional in the area. Very disappointing

After traveling to Japan two years ago, my husband and I struggled to find a place in Rochester that served sushi we could appreciate. SUMO is by far the best sushi we have had in the area. They offer creative rolls, but also have high quality sashimi that is served at the right temperature! Not on ice! Highly recommend this restaurant.
