Excellent authentic BBQ. Burnt ends were fantastic. Really enjoyed the sauces on the table. Don’t wait to order, when they’re out, they’re out. Orange muffins are really good as well, if not for dessert, then breakfast the next day.

Brisket is cut too thin. The BBQ sauce is supposed to be smokey, but isn’t. I’m unsure about this place. It doesn’t taste bad, but the taste doesn’t reflect to other glowing reviews I see for this place. Maybe it’s just the brisket is unimpressive and the other dishes are good. The potato salad is excellent. The baked beans are good but nothing special. Cornbread muffin was excellent

We got the 2# (1# brisket, 1# turkey) family pack along with an extra 1# of pulled pork. EVERYTHING was delicious. The food is a great deal, the people there are very friendly and the food is delicious. We come to NSB at least once a year for a week and Sundown Smokehouse is going to be a yearly stop on the way to our condo.

Good quality, well cooked BBQ. Pickles are fantastic! Green beans good and mac-n-cheese unique. Tea is freshly brewed. Good sauces. Order at counter, then sit down at an available table. Can get busy and fill up quick. Takeout probably a great option. Fast. Clean. Simple, nice decor.

The best burnt ends are the best but need to order early because they sell out!! Love the pulled pork and the pit beans too and also the smoked turkey and tri-tip. The orange muffins make a nice sweet ending to the meal.

The burnt ends are great, and so is the pulled pork platter. Their sauces are homemade and are good. The mac and cheese is SO good. Same for their potato salad and pit beans. Others with us got the loaded fritos & they raved about them. The place is very clean! We are locals and have eaten in and outside at the picnic table and picked up takeout when we have had large family gatherings- always good. My only complaint is IF you order a sandwich, they serve it on a cold bun. Please consider toasting the bun. 🙂

I love barbecue. It’s my favorite type of food. I’ve learned over the years that excellent barbecue starts with the pitmaster. I don’t know who fills that role at Sundown Smokehouse but he/she knows what they are doing. I had a pulled pork platter with corn bread, green beans, and potato salad. I’ve never had better pulled pork. It was moist and tender. Probably smoked for 18 to 20 hours. Served unsauced, as it should be. Four sauces on the table to choose from. I tried all four. Each is a winner. Settled on “Mustang Sally”, the mustard based sauce. My favorite type of barbecue sauce. I think there was a fifth sauce. A hot one. But like all restaurants I’ve been to, the spicy barbecue sauce is kept behind the counter. The sides were also delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant is small compared to some of the competition but I much prefer that. One thing that really struck me was how clean it was. Exceptionally so. I read somewhere that they may run out of some foods. True to that statement, burnt ends were sold out when I arrived. No worries. That just means I have to go back to try them. I’ll be going several times because I can’t wait to try all the meats. When have you ever heard of any major barbecue chain restaurant running out of product? I never have. Know why? Because their product isn’t in high enough demand to run out. If a restaurant runs out of product due to high demand, you know this is the place to go. This is the true sign of a great barbecue restaurant. I’ve found a real gem. I’ll be a regular customer. You should try it. You will love it too.

Let me preface this by saying I hate BBQ. I have tried a lot of places over the years and have yet to find flavorful tender cuts that aren’t dry. So today my husband suggests we try this place and I wasn’t expecting much if I’m honest.
