Welcome to Sunny Side Kitchen, where we’re all about panini — cheesy, grilled, made-to-order sandwiches featuring the best local ingredients we can find. We start with artisan sourdough by San Diego bakery, Bread & Cie, to build delicious, homemade signatures like Tuscan Chicken, Pesto Chicken, and our Vegetarian Mediterranean Panini.
But wait — we know you can’t live on bread alone. So our menu incorporates small-batch drinks, like fresh lemonade, San Diego’s women-owned Howling Moon Kombucha, and an array of hot and iced coffees using beans from Carlsbad-based Origen Coffee Roasters. We have satisfying salads, a daily rotation of homemade soups, plus a crustless quiche that’s to die for!
Mom-&-pop counter serve offering morning & lunchtime panini, salads & housemade baked goods. Based on 487 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.8 stars. Price $

10 stars for sure! Smells like my memier’s kitchen. Went for soup but got delicious artichoke, tomato quiche baked to perfection. Very charming, quaint and simply perfect. Charming service, as well.

My husband & I stopped here to grab breakfast. I had been here once a few months back and thought it was a great place to split breakfast since it was late in the morning. They have sandwiches (panini) and quiches. We split The Works. It hit the spot. You even get a bit of fruit on the side. Great taste and texture. Worth stopping in. The staff wears masks and there is outdoor seating in front and the back. They even cater too.

This was a great little breakfast and brunch spot. For the panini sandwiches, I recommend getting a whole, they’re the perfect size.

Lovely little shop that feels like you’re at home as soon as you walk in. Staff were bright, welcoming and customer friendly. The aromas of toasting bread and brewing coffee filled the air. Owners are nice and accommodating. They gave us free cookies because there was an issue with our order (we had no idea, we were busy admiring all the decor and merch). Hubby had The Works panini, and I had the Wake Up Esco. They were beyond good and surprisingly big, but not heavy or greasy. The wake up had some spice to the chicken but was balanced with the pickle and cheese. They make fresh lemonade using real “fresh squeezed” lemons. Yes, please. I ordered the strawberry lemonade and was it ever refreshing. I’m a fan and would recommend this place everyday.

We LOVE Sunny Side Kitchen. My husband and I always end up going to Sunny Side for our breakfast dates because we love it so much. The staff are kind and make you feel welcomed. All of the food is delicious, especially the green chili quiche. I recently had Sunny Side cater a teacher appreciation lunch at my kid’s preschool. It was so easy to discuss and order what would be best to serve. The food was easily packaged and beautifully laid out. Thank you for serving our community!

Loved this little place. The food was fresh and delish. Friendly. The place is small but on warmer days there are outdoor seats. I had the quiche. It was fantastic. My husband had a great toasted panini. He loved it. The hazelnut latte was also great.

Not a very inviting restaurant. A place that appears to be a “locals only” kind of restaurant. Not comfortable at all. NOT a place I would recommend to anyone I know. No one spoke to me while I was there. I stood at the entrance , waiting for directions. No one said a word to me. It was seat yourself. So I grabbed a paper menu and sat at an open table, looked at the menu, still not a word from anyone, I noticed people coming in and ordering then sitting so I got up went to make an order and as soon as I got up a employee came over and took my menu still not one word. Lol so I took my coffee to go and went to Panera Bread instead

Great little sandwich shop – cozy interior with limited seating and a handful of sidewalk, patio seating outside.
