At the end of West Broad Street, as it turns into Broad Street Road and begins its long journey to Ohio, there is the westernmost bar in Richmond. The Sunset Grill. A place where the farmers of Goochland rub elbows with the lawyers and accounts of Henrico. All around a well apportioned bar in the front, with white table cloth tables in the back. The bar is in and of itself a perfect metaphor for the area in which it is located.

Food and atmosphere were excellent! However, the server was frank, not friendly. Perhaps she was having a hard day, or believed that a mature woman with a young boy would not tip well. Sadly, her tip would have been more than generous if she had cracked a smile or a friendly word. I worked as a waitress for many years before becoming a nurse and am usually a quite generous tipper.

We didn’t even have the opportunity to find out if the food was good or not. Carrie, our waitress, may need a review in customer service. We got there at 4:30 and found out the dinner menu didn’t start until 5. It’s not clear when you are just looking for a decent place to eat that, that’s the “rule” there. We only had the option of the lite appetizers menu and any questions that were asked to her she seem irritated and like we weren’t welcome there. I guess you have to be a bar local to be treated decently.

Great place for local food in a comfortable atmosphere. Menu has a bunch of options, and all are prepared with care. You know it must be ok because the parking lot is always just about full. Doesn’t disappoint! You won’t be sorry you tried it!

We had the ribeye steaks. They were cooked to temperature but lacked flavor and had more fat than expected. The calamari appetizer came out after the salad and appeared to be something that something that was frozen and simply heated up. Not what we are a custom from our past experiences here.

This was our first visit to Sunset Grill (my wife, 2 granddaughters, and myself). They were crazy busy, but we got our orders in a reasonable amount of time. The food was incredible, and the waitresses provided food for the eyes. I can’t wait to return again and again as I work my way through their expansive menu

Stopped around 4pm and got some food off the lite fare menu while we were staying in Richmond. There was a nice small town feel and everyone was super friendly. I got the BBQ sandwich with the Oak-Cured Bourbon sauce and it was really good. The pork was tender and the sauce was great. The fries were really good too (warm, crispy, and a little thicker cut). Good portion sizes and very reasonable prices.
