I’m not sure what was nastier between the subs or the owner. I wouldn’t go back here if it were my only option to eat. The owner was visibly annoyed with us since we came 40 minutes until close & we thought it was ample amount of time to make 2 subs. Well he certainly made it clear that he’d rather start closing up shop than to even greet us. Never again!

Yesterday, my wife and I drove to Jacksonville, so I could do my TSA PreCheck interview (1 hour and 37 minutes away). Since I love cheesesteaks, I googled ‘best cheesesteak Jacksonville’, and I saw the rave reviews for Surfwiches. And, let me tell you… Their cheesesteaks are absolutely amazing – probably one of the best I have ever had in my life. And, my amazing wife (I definitely married up) ordered their patty melt, because I couldn’t decide which to order. And, oh my god… Their patty melt was soooooooo amazing too. I’m so glad we came here. The food was amazing, the staff were super friendly and the restaurant was kept nice and clean. But, don’t let the outside fool you. This place is a hidden gem. This place is definitely worth the drive. This place took me 43 minutes out of my way, but it was so worth it. Going forward, anytime I’m in the Jacksonville area, I will definitely come back here, and I don’t care how far it takes me out of my way. You definitely have to try this place. You definitely won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been searching everywhere in Jax for a good good hoagie and it couldn’t be found until I made it here on a random. You can taste it by just standing in the restaurant. When I got my first Italian, I had to ask if I was back home in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area because this sandwich slaps. Fresh meat, cheese, rolls and the iconic salt, pepper, oregano to top it off . I’m in love and for the price I’ll keep coming back!

I’ve been coming here for a year now. Moved from Md and it was the closest to an up north cheesteak. I had family in town and wanted them to try it. The owner Jim was obscenely Rude to my guests. The sand which was missing Mayo and when they took the order back and asked for Mayo, he told them to “go on back to your table, that’s what u ordered”. In a very “Go on Boy” manner. They requested their money back, as they should have. And I unfortunately will NEVER RETURN! Businesses must earn the right to our business. The white man next to us apologized to us, and said “I’m sorry, we are not all like that”. Such a disappointment. Don’t give your money to this business!!!!!

Hands down the best cheesesteak I have had in Jax. Its a good size too. I have had quite a few in my time and here in Jax itself and this is real deal stuff. Staff is friendly, you can view the cooking and assembly area if you please also. You can tell they use good ingredients and take pride in their craft. Tons of additonal toppings and condiment choices aswell. Personally I get a cheesesteak with grilled sweet peppers, grilled onions, extra hot peppers, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and peppercorn mayo. Its fire ! Every time I go its delicious. This place is a must try if you love a cheesesteak. A must. Also, they have military discount.

Huge sandwiches made to order. You could split one three ways and still be full, that is if you aren’t a teenager anymore . Their cheese steaks are next on my list to try. Seating inside and togo available. Good quality ingredients too. No complaints.
