For a Cali girl this sushi isn’t too bad. We got the simple rolls of two for 10$ basically. The fish portions were good and size of the rolls were good. However the ginger for the Togo cups seemed almost spoiled?

I’ve lived in Madison for a year and Sushi Express has been a reliable place for sushi – specifically their two roll deal. However, they have begun decreasing the fish in their sushi to a significantly miniscule portion. Additionally, while the staff are competent and efficient, their treatment of customers is stiff, cold, and unwelcoming.

Great service, well prepared sushi especially in a college area, and great deals. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to seating availability during a rush hour. It’s a casual setting and small, but popular with locals, college kids, and other sushi goers eating here. I ordered the shrimp shumai as an appetizer, and it was perfectly steamed and so delicious. For the meal, I ordered the two rolls, eel with avocado and spicy salmon, for $9.95. Both rolls were amazing and tasted so good. Overall, it’s a price when you’re craving sushi and want a selection.

I tried this place out on a whim, and was seriously pleased with the quality, content and especially prices. Yes, it’s a small shop. A few tables for sit down, they do have seating before the sushi counter. They do pick up orders as well. I got my order quickly too. Worth the pop in and check it out.

We have been ordering here for nearly 10 years. This is our favorite, go-to place for inexpensive, delicious sushi. We have never had any issues at all with the service we received. We are grateful that whenever we call to order, they answer promptly and have our order ready within 10-15 minutes no matter how complicated. This is one of the worst sushi restaurants I have been too, not just in the Madison area but as a whole. Their sushi is just above sushi you would find at the grocery store.. truly awful. It was not fresh. Lacking any good flavor. It is not worth it. The place is not well kept – and service was not the best. I would probably prefer the grocery store sushi if it saved me a few bucks.. I highly recommend looking elsewhere.

I come here very frequently, and everytime I try something new I’m pleasantly surprised. The rolls are extremely cheap and delicious, and their house rolls are worth the extra price. The fried rice, crab rangoons, miso soup, and shrimp shumai are also all amazing. The servers are always nice and quick with service, and the food is always exceptional. To me, this place is a staple of living in Madison. It’s perfect for even a broke college student looking for a quality sushi meal.

Lots of college students come here for their sushi deal. I used to come here when I was an undergrad because it was the only affordable sushi. I haven’t been on campus for awhile and decide to a take out. Sushi is really bland. They didn’t really put vinegar on rice like you’re supposed to. Typically without soy sauce and wasabi, I can still taste the fish’s sweetness but I really can’t taste anything. I got their Boston roll that came with diluted mayo sauce. I also got eel avocado rolls, this is my favorite sushi in general & I felt like I ate mostly avocado and eel sauce. Just a slightly thin piece of eel. And I also got shrimp tempera, spicy salmon, and tuna avocado. This is not my favorite sushi place but it’s definitely an affordable one if you’re looking for a deal. I’m still giving 4 star because of the deal and quickness but You get what you pay for.
