Such a great place! As soon as you walk in, the waitstaff is friendly and welcoming. Let me tell you about the sushi, it’s fresh and prolly the best I’ve had in Austin so far! The variety is great even for the most experience sushi eater.

Honestly one of the best happy hour specials in the city! They have great roll options starting at $6, and have plenty of creative options such as “Pearl Special” and “who’s your daddy” and “who’s your ex-wife”

The food was phenomenal. Best Sashimi I’ve ever had . Staff was bored because it wasn’t busy but I don’t know why it wasn’t.

Every thing we ordered was really good, first time here, fish was really tasty and the Chicken Karaage was addictive, I also liked miso soup and the seaweed salad was delectable as well. I got the sushi dinner with 7 pcs my brother got the sashimi dinner. The chefs work relentlessly to work on art looking dishes/rolls would definitely come back. It’s upscale so keep that in mind.

Food: We ordered three starters and three mains. The highlight for me was the Black Cod Misoyuan-Yaki plate – when the menu said it’s baked to perfection it really is! The seasoning on it is excellent. The other highlight was the Agedashi tofu, which was perfectly fried with a light crisp exterior and a soft interior that just melted in our mouthes. The food was all expertly seasoned and tasted fresh. A lot of downtown Japanese food features ghastly over-seasoning and dousing in super-sweet / salty sauce – Junai was the opposite and just perfect! We loved all the dishes except the Gyoza, which we would’ve skipped next time since it was dry.

Had a great time at Sushi Junai Omakase. It’s one of the unique and fun omakase experiences I’ve been to.

This is a true Austin gem. Owner is UT dropout but thank goodness he started his own shop. Had lunch the day before standard sushi offering, fish was incredibly fresh. Had to go back for Omakase and it was transcendental if you love Japanese food. So amazingly fresh and bespoke, like no Omakase experience I have ever had. Wonderful. Please support this artisan and his crew.

Solid sushi that’s pretty good quality! We didn’t do the omakase but came here for a quick dinner and got two dinner sets, the sushi set and the black cod set. The food was delicious and it was also a great deal for how much sushi we got!

Fantastic experience. The prices are so competitive and the value per size cannot be beat in Austin. $12 for toro and it comes out as big as your finger?
