I came here a decade ago once with one of my Japanese friends who said this place is most authentic Japanese restaurant. Could not come since then as it’s not conveniently located for me but my recent second visit was even better than the first time. I had sushi and sashimi lunch along with salad, spinach with mushrooms, and seafood and veggie fries. Fresh and good portion. I noticed one thing different here though – no music! I loved how other customers chatted quietly to one another and it was far better than having to speak louder to beat loud music. Will definitely come back whenever I am near Arlington

Very nice intimate Japanese/sushi restaurant. We started with a few small plates, the soy braised pork belly and salmon with Miso Vinaigrette. Then the braised duck breast (served cold) and some Negihama yellowtail maki and Japanese red snapper Nigiri for the entree. Definitely recommend the duck breast it was cooked perfectly and I loved it with the spicy mustard.

Very small, but clean with beautiful wood everywhere. The food was delicious and was presented gorgeously. The service was a little slow because there was only one wait person. She was lovely and did her best, but she had a lot to take care of. It’s definitely worth going, but try to get there before they open, or you’ll be in for a wait.

Hands down the BEST sushi in the Greater Boston area. No contest. We’ve been to a lot of places but none even come close to Toraya. I’ve never had a single dish here that wasn’t absolutely delicious — including things I’d never consider ordering elsewhere like octopus & eel. Even their green tea is exceptional & different from everywhere else (I think they actually put a little matcha in with it so it’s not just sencha, giving it a deeper richer flavor).

Despite being advertised as having a wheelchair accessible entrance on google, this place was NOT wheelchair accessible.

Glad to see Mr. Toraya is back in action and creating delicious sushi dishes again. The menu has changed since they moved and it was my first time visiting the new location.

Excellent, traditional, modest, mom & pop sushi joint in Arlington. Very small space so it can be very competitive to get seating. The sushi chef really lets the fish shine, without all the bells and whistles of more modern sushi restaurants in the area.

My husband took me on a date here based on a recommendation from his co-worker. It was such a great spot! Felt very cozy and intimate. Definitely felt more like a quiet spot best suited to very small groups or couples just based on the space. Didn’t feel like the most suitable place for young kids.

2022 Update: still love it. Really well designed, airy space, great food and presentation. My kids were bummed they no longer had their old favorites, but still enjoyed the food. I loved the pork belly and tofu. Will be back to try other new items on the menu.

This small (24 seats) restaurant could be found anywhere in Japan. One waitress and the Sushi chef. I usually go for their lunch Chirashi that is excellent but the quantity of fish has decreased over the years. Today I went for a lunch Bento Box with Pork Katsu. The pork was cooked well and I got both mustard and tonkatsu sauce. The goyza was cold as was the tatsuta-age. The miso soup was good but served in freezingly cold bowl.
