I was looking for a new sushi spot in Pasadena and saw this had a perfect score, so I went and checked it out. The booths are separated by separator stands so you’ll have a feeling of a little more privacy with your guests.

Absolutely fantastic. This place does sushi right. Thick cuts of fish. Quality all the way around. Not cheap but priced very well for the quality. Non-sushi menu items from the kitchen were also executed fantastically. Toro, salmon, and eel sushi were favorites of the night. Interior is small but cozy. Staff poised and friendly. This restaurant will definitely remain as a favorite to go to.

Wow—best sushi we’ve had since moving to the LA area. It’s fairly priced as the fish cuts are generously portioned and fresh (flown in from Japan three times a week). I especially appreciate that they don’t overstuff their rolls with rice—the rolls are mostly made of delicious fish. Reservations are required because it’s a small place with limited seating. The server and sushi chef were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back!

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in LA. They’re purely a sit down place, no to go because they want to help curate the experience for you. A lot of care and love goes into this food and you can taste it. I’m definitely telling all my local friends about this place! Make sure to make a reservation, as they have limited seating, but it’s worth it!

Wow, what a wonderful sushi place! We went there for dinner on a random Thursday and Karen’s mom took great care of us. They served us fresh sashimi in generous portions, a delicious gyoza, and super crispy and sticky crispy rice with spicy tuna cakes. The sushi rolls were also great – we had crab rolls and eel and cucumber. Honestly the vibe of the place is awesome and the owners are super cute! Feels like a family environment with lots of attention to service and their clientele. Will 100% be back!

This was our first time after a recommendation by my Japanese friend, who is very particular. We ordered chirashi sushi and salmon skin salad for take-out. Both were exceptionally fresh and delicious. We look forward to coming back to Sushi Karen again.

Sushi Karen has some of the best quality sushi in all of Southern California. The fish portion and quality is out of this world. Toshi, the sushi chef, is a master of his craft, and is always so kind. The restaurant is small and very mom and pop but serves Michelin quality food right here is Pasadena.
