The word Ukai means a traditional method of catching small Japanese trout by manipulating seabirds. Sushi Ukai offers a sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese style of casual eating. Nice and cozy sushi restaurant. From the sushi to the soup, entrées and bento boxes all were well prepared and to our taste. Portion sizes were larger than we expected. We went later in the evening on a weekday so was not busy and got to enjoy a relaxing family dinner.

We came here because they had a vegan/vegetarian menu on their website. When we sat down at our table, the menu didn’t call out what was vegan or vegetarian. I ordered the Veggie Bento Box and my husband asked if was vegan. The server (hesitantly) said yes. When my miso soup arrived she said it might not be vegan… so I let my husband eat it. The Veggie Box was decent—big portion! But it came to the table 10 minutes before my husband’s food so I was half done when he started eating. My non-vegan husband reports his sushi was nothing spectacular.

We came for a pick up. The staff were courteous and pleasant, but there was nothing spectacular about the food. This was my first experience here, but it will definitely be my last, including for my other family members.

Food was better than the first time I went (With my mother a few years ago), but this time I went with my partner. Our server was polite but short, no additional conversation other than handing us the menu and explaining what our food was when it got to our table. We can’t be sure, but we felt unwelcome because my partner is half black. Most likely wouldn’t dine again.

Way over priced, nothing authentic and the taste is very mediocre. You can tell tell they copied many restaurants, starting from fake lantern in martini glass with beets and setting there plates oh fire with roles. For the price wish they can come up with there own style then just copying everyone around them. I always thought chef had to be creative and artistic but I guess either they have no chef but copycats with no idea.of there own.

Quite rude…my daughter asked if they had a website so she can see pictures of the sushi. The waitress’s response was “if you don’t like sushi you shouldn’t have came here cause we only serve Japanese food” not sure how she got that from requesting to see pictures but I took it she didn’t want our business so we left.
