Sushi Yugen is an Edomae – inspired restaurant hatched from years of work and learn under master chefs all around the world.
Tony San, our Head Executive chef, selects his fish daily based on the season, imported directly from Toyosu Fish market, in Tokyo, Japan.
Here at Sushi Yugen, Tony San will practice the traditional style of sushi known as Edomae, which is named after Edo ( Tokyo ). The Edomae sushi style involves using the aging technique to preserve the fish, develop umami flavors, and create the more tender-creamy texture. Also by curing them in salt or seaweed Kombu from a few hours to several days.
Based on 100 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.8 stars. Price

The experience and each dish was incredible, we will be back! The chefs paired all the ingredients so well and flavors were delicious! The servers were so nice and even switched a dish out because I didn’t like an ingredient. Definitely recommend the omakase here- it’s worth the price!

I had such a good first time here with the standard omakaze that I can’t wait to go back and try their premium option. Each piece bursts with flavors that are perfectly balanced and the textures are ever so soft and creamy. The experience is traditional in the sense that the servers provide you with a wet cloth so that you can wipe your fingers after picking up each sushi. However, it’s also quite modern in design and also in how the servers show you pictures of each fish on an ipad. I quite enjoyed that touch. I’ve been to many omakase places since my favorite one shut down mid-covid, and this is the first place I’ve encountered that does that. I would highly recommend this place for any sushi enthusiast!

10/10 experience. We did the tasting menu awhile ago and have been back 3 times already. The staff is so friendly, attentive, and educated about the menu. At other sushi spots there is always one bite I don’t like, but not here. I loved every single bite.

An unforgivable Omakase experience. The staff was overly attentive which can be a good thing for this kind of dinner. Every single dish was as tasteful and beautiful as the last one. The quality of the fish was still quite fresh considering it was imported directly from Japan.

Traditional Sushi place that is so rare to see in the USA. If you want to try authentic (not Americanized) sushi place, check this place out. The fresh fish from Japan was just mind-blowing.

Omakase for $160 includes 16 courses by Yugen Omakase in NYC’s Upper East Side. One of the neighborhood’s best restaurants, this menu is a classic with a few modern pieces. The fish quality and rice preparation are some of the best we’ve had this year, highlights include the Oyster Uni appetizer, next level Saba, and aged Otoro and Chutoro. Highly recommend
