In 2005, Swankys Taco Shop was developed in Memphis on an idea to combine the atmosphere, service, and fresh food of full service dining with the pricing and convenience of fast-casual dining. And since burritos and tacos are just not the same without a margarita or a beer, Swankys boasts a full bar to offer a broad range of drink options. We do enjoy the menu at Swankys. It is a little bit expensive for what you get. Tonight the service was a little bit light but generally it’s better. They have a good bar but I rarely see it with a bartender. Tonight it was covered with catering and to-go.

Swankys used to be one of my favorite taco shops. It was clean, and the atmosphere was great. Now, it just reminds me of a taco version of Subway with dimmer lighting. The pricing does not fit with the quality of the food, and they have gotten very sloppy with everything. I am allergic to beef and there was beef found in my chicken burrito bowl because of the way they speed through making the bowls causing food to drop from one container to another when picking up to put into each bowl. They also don’t switch gloves between each bowl unless asked, which can cause other dietary issues since they pick up the ingredients using the gloves for every customer.

Hit the door at 12:23 right at the peak with the lunch crowd and had a bit of a wait to place my order. (25 minutes). Back at the table our order arrived 6 minutes later. We both ordered grill items which are prepared in the back. A lot of the basic taco variations are prepped right in front of you. I will have to say the shrimp tacos were pretty good and my partner liked her chimichanga although the plastic knife to cut it with left a lot to be desired. Uniquely seasoned chips and salsa. We both left feeling full as the portion size was rather generous. If you coming on your lunch hour it might be a little tight unless you work close by, off the hour it’s only a few minutes wait. Enjoy.

The food has been sitting out and looked super unappealing. The tacos weren’t anything better than okay. The lady who made our tacos asked us how many we want and we said two, instead of telling us they come with 3 and charge for 3 she made us two and charged for 3. Woman in the blue/teal has her hair down playing with it the entire time around food.

Came on a Friday night and was able to ordered quickly. I ordered the Nachos add Chicken with an order of Chips and Salsa. The Nachos were just ok.. as there were some burnt chips and the toppings weren’t evenly spaced out. I also would have liked to add more toppings than what it came with. The chips and salsa was very good! I would give it another shot to try their burrito bowls and guacamole.
