Due to COVID our trip to New Orleans for our 10 year anniversary got cancelled. I decided to surprise my wife by bringing New Orleans home. I reached out to the food group NOVA Foodies for ideas and was contacted by Cheryl, the owner of Sweet NOLA’s.

Omgosh this place you MUST try!!!! The food, the music, the people….I had the most amazing time there tonight. The seafood gumbo was melting in my mouth so good. I was so full I could only take a taste of my dessert.

I would give this 4 stars for ambience alone. We are born and raised from Louisiana and much of the decor takes us home by just walking through the door. Sweet NOLA’s should be a go to for anyone who wants to visit the French Quarters but doesn’t want to take the time or have the money. They try their best to make food how I know it should taste. Their open face roast beef was ok, bread was a bit stale, more of lettuce, tomato, and French fries then meat and gravy (Gravy was cold). White beans were made with cream (never had it like that from anywhere in the boot state). Red beans and rice were very good and Gumbo was ok. We enjoyed their take on Beignets, they might be losing money on the amount of powdered sugar they put on them. Over all we will give them another try.

Had alligator sausage and the jymbla there both were so amazing! Fried okra was really good to seasoned well. Very unique decor had a live band playing for a little bit. Our waitress was attentive. Food came out in a timely fashion. Would stop here again. They dont skimp on portions.

Went for lunch had the gumbo the Natchez (oyster po boy) and the appetizer platter. It was all very good. I just wish they had an oyster platter for lunch the oysters were amazing ….the gumbo (chicken and sausage) was to die for very deep and flavorful. Next time will get the seafood gumbo platter. The appetizer plate was combo of sweet potato fries regular fries and fried okra.all were amazing and the sauces were good…the okra was the stand out….the atmosphere is nice and the waitstaff was very nice and attentive but not that annoying over attentiveness. For desert we had the cheesechake…which was very good for cheesecake ( my fav and very critical of) it is my number one in winchester.

I suggest reservations if you plan to go on the weekend. Live music (on a Friday evening), great food and exceptional service. After an amazing meal we ordered the Krispy Kreme bread pudding with icecream and some good, strong coffee. I couldn’t praise enough! 5 stars +

Absolutely incredible authentic New Orleans food. I was in New Orleans a month before eating at Sweet Nola’s and the PO boy was better at Sweet Nola’s! Will be back without a doubt.
