This place adds a much needed element to the Black Mountain food scene. Food is fresh, exceptionally well flavored, and reasonably inexpensive. The queso is excellent with a sneaky, building heat. Tacos are generous in portion and loaded with layers of flavor. It’s “foody” without being pretentious or over priced. Decor is cool too – there’s a little orange goat added to all the art work…

Taco Billy is a wonderful new addition to Black Mountain. The space is open and inviting, the food options are accommodating to those with sensitivities and they taste great! I tried a plantain breakfast taco and it was amazing. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Other than the tacos having healthy amounts of meat amd toppings, I did not care for some of the menu items – in particular the Lunch Lady taco and the frozen margaritas. Let’s start with the taco. The meat was mushy and tasted burnt; the mole sauce was awful, and did not come close to how mole should taste. I took one bite and could not eat the rest. The other patrons in my group also tasted it and had the same reaction – awful tasting. Flavorless. And the frozen margaritas? They are a great price on the weekends and are over $7.00 on weekdays. For me, I could not taste any alcohol whatsoever, so that was another waste of my hard-earned money.

The tacos were very interesting flavors, and hearty portions. The Wednesday drink special is five dollars for draft beer which is so cheap for the Asheville area! Looking forward to trying everything on the menu. The salsa was good and I presume housemade, just in such small containers.

We visited Black Mountain for the day and were told that we had to try Taco Billy. Our food was excellent! The ingredients were the highest quality; the employees made terrific recommendations, and the owner, Hunter, stopped over to talk. I had Mama’s Favorite (Sausage, eggs, spinach, sweet potato, and goat cheese on a plantain tortilla), and my husband had Billy Holiday (Sausage, eggs, cheddar jack cheese). Taco Billy is THE place to eat. (The prices are also incredibly reasonable.)

Recommended by a colleague of mine that grew up in the area. The staff was friendly, kind, very accommodating and humorous. The meal was perfect for a tween (kid) friendly quick sit down lunch. Priced well and very fast service. Enjoyed it throughly and will be back. Big thanks to the staff!!!

This place is amazing! I ordered the yard bird, it is honestly the best taco I have ever ate. We have tried to come back every day this week. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Moderate sized taco. Definitely not “Burrito” Billy, haha. If you have a huge appetite, get 2. Otherwise, very tasty chips, salsa, and guacamole.
