I’m not generally a fan of Mexican food but Gemelos is our go to in the Bay Area. Seriously once you come here you’ll never go anywhere else. We also take all of our out of town guests and even visitors from other parts of the Bay Area here. It’s a very simple (read: just a bit better than hole in the wall) location though so don’t expect anything fancy. But the quesabirrias, the rice-less burritos, and pretty much all of their tacos (even the vegetarian ones which are taste-less everywhere else) are to die for!

The absolute best authentic Mexican tacos and food in the Bay Area. Homemade fresh tortillas, well seasoned meat, fast service, and the flavor here is second-to-none. Redwood City is a highly competitive marketplace for good authentic Mexican food, and this is one of the best in the Bay. As a Bay Area native, this place comes highly recommended, and is named on several websites as a place to try for good Mexican food, and I can see why. Detailed review follows:

Nice people to serve… But the food is low in Mexican style quality. I had an enchilada and they made it in 5 min. And they didn’t taste like enchiladas, the potatoes were not properly cooked. We also ordered a roast beef plate and they gave the tortillas burnt….

Very average. The size of the burrito is like a iPhone 13. Don’t come too hungry.

Good homey authentic Mexican Restaurant. Almost thought I was in Mexico. They have a lot on their menu, but I just had their Pastor (pork) and Asada (beef) tacos. They were quite good and paid about $6. Seating indoor or outdoor is available and decent amount of parking.

I’ve been here a few times and enjoyed the food. Today I went specifically for quesabirria tacos… yumm they didn’t disappoint and fixed my craving. Their hot sauce oil was so good too. Those radishes were the biggest roughly chopped ever haha but I’m not gonna complain. Service was great, friendly, and engaging.

No dearth of good taquerias in redwood city but this one stands out. Fresh hand made tortillas, excellent meats (carnitas, barbacoa – speciality) Highly recommend.

The one thing I found different from other taqueria is that their tacos aren’t greesy. They don’t dip the corn tortillas in oil before getting fried. The tacos resulted in clean flavor and I no longer feel like my taste buds have been stripped of taste.

Amazingly good smaller spot with great selection of shrimp plates, friendly neighborhood vibe, good burritos, nice drink selection, reasonable prices. Can get busy though worth the wait. Parking can be challenging from Roosevelt street, El Camino is easier in/out.
