Tanaka of Tokyo West was really convenient in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. My daughter and I celebrated her good grades in school and I did not expect the staff to sing her a song with a cake I ordered. The experience was something we would remember forever! Food was awesome as always and Chef Anderson was really funny in his show. There was so much food that we could not finish eating everything! We cannot wait to come back again soon!

Our cousin, my wife and I visited the Ala Moana restaurant in early February 2023 and waited a short while before we were seated. We ordered ribeye steak, lobster and sirloin, and lobster dinner set. The chef came after a long wait to demonstrate his artistic flair and impressed us with the cooking utensils on his hands as he goes about cooking the fried rice and vegetables before the meats and seafood. There were other customers seated together in a circular formation. We found the food satisfactory, with the fried rice was a bit bland and meat over cooked. A lady photographer came to take pictures of the customers, including us, and we were given a postcard group photo, although we did not buy any of the photographs she took, since we came only for dinner. The bill came to USD$173 including tips for the three of us.

A couple of weeks ago I tool my Girlfriend for a dinner date here and we were extremely satisfied!! our server Chloe was great and friendly! And the food was fantastic! Our chef a young man named Seth was absolutely Amazing!! He was friendly, very knowledgeable and skilled!! Had a great sense of humor and very entertaining!! Unlike the head chef who was tending the other side of the table who literally, had the look like I hate my job! Thank you seth for making out date night the best we’ve had! my girl still raves about out Date! Thank You Seth for the well cooked delicious food!

Great experience and food! The chef was hilarious and knows how to put on a show. The service by everyone was great! They were friendly and welcoming from arrival all the way until we left. I enjoyed a steak and chicken plate and it was made to perfection.

We didn’t have reservations and waited about 20 minutes for a table for 4 (me, wife, and two kids) which was fine. The chef was amazing and the food was great. My wife and I ordered the sirloin and my two kids had kids meals. For drinks, I had two beers, my wife had one beer, my son ordered a pineapple juice, and my daughter ordered an orange juice.

The place is easy to find: the top floor of the Ala Moana. A staff member first took the order and noted any dietary restrictions, then the chef–who held a talk show while cooking–came. They served juicy vegetables such as mushrooms, bean sprouts, and onion, and of course, they cooked the entrée well and as requested. After the meal was finished, the manager came and asked for feedback. To sum up, great food, great virgin cocktails, excellent service!

Took a party of 8 to Tanaka of Tokyo West to celebrate Father’s Day. We had a grand time. Our chef, Ethan, was fabulous!! Great personality with entertaining jokes and culinary tricks. He was very upbeat and pleasantly joyful which made our dining experience perfect. The food was delicious as usual with Ethan searing each order to perfection. The server was fast with everything timed perfectly including the refills of beverages and dipping sauces. The photographer took beautiful pics which will be our memories of that wonderful evening. We were extremely pleased with the food, service and environment. Mahalo for making our Father’s Day one to remember!!!

Great place to bring the family, or work team, or friends for a special event or just for a good time. Not inexpensive though, so be prepared for $50-$100 per person, but definitely an enjoyable experience!
