Just started our 19th year in business. We had an idea back in 2000 to open a small Mexican restaurant based on low volume and high quality. We had predicted the “taqueria” concept would last two to three years and we were proven wrong. The majority of our staff has been with us over 10 years, which is unusual in the hospitality industry. As for our food: small batch, handmade tortillas, local beers on tap and friendly service is the secret to our longevity.
We look forward to your visit.
This cozy, colorful eatery serves typical Mexican options such as tacos, burritos & enchiladas. Based on 589 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.3 stars. Price $

Good food and service. I ordered the tacos and the server recommended her favorite ones to try and so I did and they were delicious! The dining area is small so just keep that in mind if you have a larger party.

Love everything about this Mexican spot. Small setting with lots of flavor. We always get the quick guacamole, cheese dip, and elotes for appetizers. ACP shrimp and Sizzling Fahitas are the business. Lastly churros and sopapillas.

Popped in right at the end of lunch hrs. Lady tending bar couldn’t answer basic questions. I got fish tacos, cod, to go. Order came out suspiciously quick. As soon as I remove the bag of chips on top I was slapped in the face by the smell of 2 day old tilapia, not cod definitely not fresh. After calling them to say my piece & them know I understand owner can be problematic the lady argued that she had over seen my meal packed and it was my fault the food looks and smell inedible. Here are picture of the cold soggy mess. Zero would be correct score.

We went to this establishment on a whim, after the other place we were going to eat was less than acceptable in terms of service. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the foods on the menu, and worked with us as a member of our party had a severe milk allergy. The wait staff worked with us to make certain that the dish ordered had no milk and minimized the chance for cross contamination as much as possible. The food was authentic South of the Border food. The chorizo tacos were absolutely fantastic, so much so that I wished I had ordered just the chorizo tacos! I also had a carne taco, and a shredded chicken taco, both were authentic in flavor and texture, both were excellent. The sweet tea was about as Southern as it can get, add a dash of kemon and you are in business. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the staff and the music. We will be coming back here, and recommend it to anyone that will listen.

A cut above every other Mexican restaurant in the Triad! Friendly, great service with authentic and flavorful dishes. Highly recommend the margaritas, molcajete and Mexican carnitas tacos. The seasonal menu and brunch is also fantastic. We have yet to be disappointed.

Edit-Tried to dine here again, I really want to love it. This visit there were only 2 of us. Chips and salsa were brought and our server got our drink orders right away. We got an order of guacamole, to split, which was perfect. For our meal, I ordered a combo platter, including a tamal, a chile relleno and a burrito. My friend ordered steak tacos. They arrived right on time, and the tacos looked delicious. It was served with lemon instead of lime, so my friend asked for, and eventually got a couple limes. My combo was just okay. When I ordered a chile relleno, I thought it would be stuffed with cheese, egg battered and fried. It was a naked poblano with some ground beef and a tiny bit of cheese on top. (See photo) The burrito was better, it had a lot of chicken and good heat. I’d also entertained high hopes about their tamales. I was so wrong. It was presented only half wrapped in corn husk and it was extremely dry, the beef filling had no flavor and the corn meal wrapper had apparently been dry heated and not wrapped properly and steamed. I took photos before the tamal arrived. After our food was served, it was a struggle to get even one refill on our water. I think I have given Taqueria El Azteca plenty of chances.

I can’t recommend a dish. I didn’t make it that far. I only had chips and tomato paste (salsa) and bottled Coke. The waitress was either having a bad day or not interested in serving black people. I did not see brown community representation in there at the time, though my waitress seemed to have been which was confusing. When I let her know “I’m not sure if I’m interested in ordering because it is my first time here and I haven’t been helped” She rolled her eyes came back with tab then came back with phone and tap box. Extremely rude.

Great location and friendly staff. Personally I was not impressed with the tacos I had. I ordered 4 tacos one of each (asada, pastor, lengua and carnitas) even though they brought me a chicken instead of carnitas. The tortillas were a little hard and cold. The meat seasoning for the pastor did not meet the traditional al pastor. The Asada had no flavor. Although the lengua was good but in reality you can mess up a good lengua. The chips and salsa they bring out is nothing to brag about. Just call it tomatoes sauce with chips. Maybe I am just used to more authentic Mexican tacos.

The prices are fair, amazing waiters, nice decoration… but the taste wasn’t there, I am talking about the most important part ( steak 6/10 .. as you can see on the pics little bits of pieces of dry meat ), ( chicken 2/10 worse I’ve had in year ) try it for yourself. The only Taco that was acceptable was the grilled shrimp one.
