The many fans of Taqwa Obaid will be pleased to learn that they no longer have to attend an event or hire her as a caterer to sample her cooking. On July 16, the Greenfield Common Council adopted a resolution granting a permit for Taqwa’s Bakery and Restaurant to operate at 4651 S. 27th Street.
“I had heard of her throughout the years through the community – everyone kept raving about how great Taqwa’s food was,” said Sausan Naji, a member of the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition board of directors. “I would attend events that she had catered and the food was amazing. Every event that we would go to was Taqwa’s food, and people were raving about it.”

We’ve eaten at many different Arab restaurants and this was the BEST food and ambiance. Everything is made so fresh and delicious. The portions are also very generous. We got the mixed grill platter but dove right in and I forgot to take a pic first! The presentation is also 10/10 and just the whole vibe of the place is very authentic and fun. There’s a whole area for photo ops that is a very cool experience to take guests. We will definitely be back whenever we visit Milwaukee!

What can I say but wow. My wife and I went for a late lunch date and ordered the hummus to share, my wife had the mixed grill platter with cucumber yogurt salad, and I had kufta kabob wrap. The hummus was almost certainly the best hummus I’ve had in my life, the fresh warm bread and all the toppings? I’m never going to be satisfied with normal grocery store hummus after this, it’s broken me. The portions on our entrees were insane, we’re both going to get at least another meal out of them, maybe even more. The kufta was juicy and and deliciously spiced. Amazing that we have this option in our community, we’re going to be back for sure!

We had a great experience at Taqwa! The food was delicious. My husband and I started with stuffed grape leaves and hummus with pita bread. We enjoyed the cucumber yogurt salad and the lentil soup. The chicken and lamb were so tender and delicious. We also had the baklava, which is to die for! Overall, Our sever was very nice, and attentive. Taqwa is 10/10!

My go to for delicious & fresh middle eastern food in Milwaukee. Sorta pricy and you can’t be in a rush because you’ll have to wait for your food…but that’s the price you pay for the quality. They bake a lot of the breads fresh.
