So here is the thing, I went there and I honestly didn’t have much expectations given the small town Bangor and only one Indian restaurant.

Traveling through Bangor – I felt like eating Indian food. The cumulative reviews here were not so high – so I didn’t expect much. I was wrong to think that. Absolutely FANTASTIC. I ordered Sag Paneer and Chana Masala – I asked them to cook it the way people from India eat their food- spiced on the hotter side. I got exactly that. Not some Americanized version of these dishes but – the real thing. I can’t guarantee the same experience if you don’t request your food taste authentically seasoned but if you do you will be rewarded. The basmati rice that came with my order was great too.

It was a fairly basic Indian restaurant in downtown Bangor. The flavors in the food were rich. However, my dish was not overly warm and I was disappointed with that. The staff were not overly engaging but did ask for your preferred level of spice.

Average place. Dine in wasn’t there. I picked up Chicken Vindaloo, Garlic Naan. Tasted average. Garlic naan was pretty hard like a leather jacket. . Thank god the entree had rice as a side. Chicken wasn’t fresh! They gave tamarind sauce which was unique and I liked it with food!! With no other options around, this can be a place for you.

It might be a tad unassuming but what I discovered was a real gem of a place filled with delicious food and warm-good natured people. Like a dogged-eared classic book, the Taste of India offers you tasty adventures and authenticity.

I always order the same thing every time we come here because I have not tried many Indian spices or exotic dishes, and I would hate to spend $16-17 on a dish that I didn’t like! It seems like the prices have gone up quite a bit since last year, I always get the Mango Chicken, but was surprised when I got my bill and saw the dish was $17 and the Garlic Naan’s that used to cost $3 were now $5. Everything on the menu has gone way up, even just a small carton of extra rice. Every time I have got our food home it’s always neatly packaged in plastic containers, the servings are a pretty good size, and my Mango Chicken is always hot and cooked perfectly. So my only real complaint would be the prices but I don’t mind coming here for an occasional splurge. As for the staff, I have always had pleasant experiences ordering from the woman who runs this place, but there is a guy who works here who is extremely rude and the food always looks like it was thrown against the wall before being boxed up. I definitely prefer when she cooks and handles my food.

One of my favorite restaurants in Bangor. I’ve never had a bad dish and the garlic naan can’t be beat. The super-friendly staff make ordering and picking up a breeze.
