We flew in from Knoxville Tennessee visiting the Houston area. My husband is Nigerian and very much so wanted to go to a restaurant. We absolutely enjoy it here about 4 times and order food to go Would recommend it. Great place authentic Nigerian food.

Unfortunately, the experience here was just okay. My friend and I ordered the Egusi with chicken, fufu, and plantain with stew. The plantains were sweet and delicious but I wish the outside was crispier- they were all very soft. As for the stew, it tasted great and paired well with the plantains

It was a forgettable experience with my visiting buddies. The swallows were so strong, you’d need to chew. The ewedu and gbegiri came without stew, the stew that supposedly had the meats took forever to come and tasted better than it looked (but the look might stop you from tasting). The beans and bread was not bad though, the efo riro too. I think it was just an off day in the kitchen for the other meals. The manager didn’t help matters either, avoided us for almost 30mins after requesting to speak to him, joked we wanted the soup “the Nigerian style” and that he believed we changed our mind about speaking to him . He had an unacceptable character towards our complains; i’d guess it wasnt his first rodeo… The waitress was obviously stressed and could harldy hide it – this place would truly stress anyone that day!

I recently visited Taste of Nigeria for the first time on 7/19/2023 I must say, it was a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and felt welcomed throughout my entire visit. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and they made sure that all of my needs were met. The menu had a great selection of dishes to choose from, and everything that I ordered was prepared and tasted great Pounded yam with goat meat and Egusi. Overall, I had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Nigerian food and service. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes!

This is my 2nd time here. Both times were SPOT ON! I will continue to patron this place! I come this past weekend for my birthday. Yes, I drove all the way out there for the pounded yam swallow and Egusi! The staff are beyond kind. The owner makes everyone feel at home. I enjoyed sitting and waiting on my food while looking at the different drink, art work and listening to authentic music playing. There is nothing better than being at a place that has so much of their culture being represented in the establishment! Of course, I will be back as this is my favorite place now. Cockerill Egusi with Pounded yam swallow ❤️

Definitely won’t be going here again. It was nice being with my family, though. The service took very long to serve us, and my thing is, say something, and I would have understood the delay. The food was also very spicy and didn’t have a lot of seasoning or flavour that I imagined it would have. There is much room for improvement. I did enjoy the atmosphere and the music as well as just spending time with family.

We had a great experience here! Leslie was our server and she was amazingly patient, sweet, knowledgeable, and fun. It was my first time eating Nigerian food and needed a rundown of the menu. She graciously helped me narrow it down.

So I like to give small businesses a chance, even when their customer service/relations have been sub par. Unfortunately, the staff here is inept. I just left there not quite long ago to pick up an order. I had a “gift certificate” to commemorate my birthday. When I presented the cashier with it, she got the attention of another worker (male) whom I presumed to be a team lead of sorts. I was then told to insert my card and that my so called gift certificate would somehow magically apply itself to my order. I thought it odd, but complied anyway. Upon receiving my printed receipt, yup, you guessed it- there was NO discount applied. I called the attention of the lady who told spewed the bogus line and in her words “I really don’t know how this works but I think you have to sign up for the loyalty program or so”. Well duh! Isn’t being in the loyalty program the reason I received the gift certificate in the first place? A total of four employees out front, two (males) on their personal phone and no one cared to figure out what the issue was. I mean I can afford my meal many times over without gift certificates, but it’s the principle for me, which is sorely lacking. DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Extremely disappointed. I used to order here all the time but this most likely was my last time. I don’t eat meat so when i buy their soups, i buy it separately so no meat will be in it. It seems that when i order the soups, they come in extremely small portions (and i still end up having to take meat out of it) the pictures I’ve attached are what the soups look like when i received them ( the spoon is in there to take out the little meat). The containers aren’t even half filled. This is RIDICULOUS!!!!! I paid $15 each for this?!?!?
