Celebrated my birthday with my wife! We both really enjoyed it! The Prime Rib dip sandwich, fries and side of creamed corn I got was fantastic and my wife loved her Pan Roasted Mahi entrée. Only thing is they did not acknowledge the birthday celebration which to me is not a big deal as the server didn’t pick up note the host had put on the table that had with our name and the occasion details , so just some training needed there for the servers.

We dined at the Tavern for our anniversary. The atmosphere was very pleasant on the patio and there was a talented musician playing a guitar and singing. The wine and drink list had plenty to offer. My husband ordered the French onion filet mignon. It seemed like an odd way to serve such a nice cut of beef, but my husband loves onions. It was actually quite good and the server had no issues switching out the sides. I ordered the day boat scallops which were underwhelming. First off, the scallops weren’t seared at a high enough heat so they were just slightly golden and didn’t have a dark crisp sear as they should have (like their online menu). Additionally, given the lower heat, they ended up being rubbery and they also gave off an ammonia scent. My stomach was queasy later that evening. It may have just been the rich food but I suspect is was the scallops. The polenta was disappointing too but not a fault of the kitchen. I just found it odd to have whole corn kernels when the best part of polenta is the creamy texture. It just felt like they took exceptional polenta and ruined it by adding corn kernels. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. Our server was on the ball and attentive. Other than the scallops, we really enjoyed the restaurant.

Very disappointed in the quality of the food, and the live music was nice but way too loud for a dinner venue. Could barely hear the waitress. They have a nice variety to choose from but the poke was not good, the Brussels sprouts were just okay and the Buddha bowls were not worth finishing. Someone liked their salad and apparently the scallops were pretty good. But basically we will not be going back, sadly. Was looking forward to a new place to go with a patio and great food.

We enjoyed a very tasty lunch brought to us by a very friendly wait staff. The food was great. They had real glass for their water glasses, heavy nicely polished silverware and linen napkins. These details made the entire experience even better, water just tastes better from clean clear no waterdrop glass.

Went in to check out the new ownership. Very friendly staff Shauna was working the bar area she was so pleasant and shared the new menu which looks amazing. They have an amazing happy hour that’s new and being offered starting this week. The place has the perfect ambience of San Juan Capistrano plus a great view of the old Mission. Will definitely make it a place to go to and try their entrées.

Very disappointed. My chicken piccata was dry, tough, and skimpy on sauce. Can’t even get a small dinner salad. You would have order a large salad for 2. Your prices on soups are a way to high. Loved Cedar Creek. don’t think we will return. P.s. ordered a simple whisky sour…it was the worst taste ever. Super cheap whiskey.

I wish that Mr. Vigil had told us what he ordered that was so mediocre that it rated 1 star. All of our restaurant experiences are takeout, so I can’t comment on the atmosphere and service, although the phone ordering service is excellent. We have ordered three times and all three times were wonderful. I’ve had the filet mignon skewers and the chicken piccata. The piccata is actually a chicken cutlet. The mashed potatoes are better than anywhere else I’ve had them. My husband had the pastrami Reuben. We WILL be back and I look forward to trying many other items on their very interesting menu.

Service was great like always, but the food was mediocre. The local crowd is gone because of the changes that were made. Won’t be coming back.

The mahi-mahi and the associated setup is superb. Juliet is a wonderful server — professional, courteous, researches menu questions, and demonstrates genuine concern for her customer’s dining experience. I will be back!
