This was our second visit to Tavern on Kruse and the food was once again phenomenal. The patio is really lovely, especially the area around the front, and it was very quiet and serene for our brunch. Both of the benedicts (crab/steak and smoked ham) we ordered were fantastic – this place nails the hollandaise – and the chef’s bowl with pork belly was a winner. The portions are good for the price as well. Our service was a little less attentive than we’d have liked this time, but I still absolutely recommend it for the exceptional food and relaxing environment.

Kent Lewis and Chef Nate recently re-vamped their already tasty choices and you can’t beat a relaxing mid-day lunch in the open air. The kitchen know what they are doing and the staff is wonderfully attendant.

The patio on a summer evening is lovely! It also adds a lot more seating, although you should still need to get a reservation. The service is good. The menu changes with the seasons. I love to try seasonal specialties. I love gazpacho and it was fun to try a new variety with melons and avocados, although I would have liked it spicier. The presentation of the pork chop was beautiful and it was very tender. The cocktails are also good! I have consistently enjoyed my meals and this time I also enjoyed the jazz band playing music in the background.

The food we ordered was poorly made. The steak was ordered medium rare and it was WELL done. Also, pretty burnt on top, I burger tasted like char but was relatively juicy. From the first bite I had the thought that the grill hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. It was not at all worth the price we paid. We can make better food at home. Bummer.

Made a reservation. They sat me at the high top table I requested. Gave me a glass of water and a menu. One hour Iatet all Ihad was a second glass of water. None of many servers ever stopped at my table to take so much as drink order. Others came in after me and got immediately service. I got up and left after it was clear water was all.I was getting last night.
