Walked in at about 5 on a Saturday evening and the rush was just starting. The service was friendly. We ordered the tonkotsu Ramen with added egg (I think this was called ajtika ramen?), the tantanmen, and some takoyaki. The tonkotsu Ramen was the winner. (Options: regular noodles, standard amount of pork oil, and a little garlic oil) The garlicky richness of the broth was spot on. The ratio of noodles to toppings in the bowl was also good and the price was reasonable.

Best ramen I’ve had since living in Japan! Absolutely great ambiance, kind and friendly staff, amazing cooks, and so so many options! We got the garlic ramen and tantanmen with a side of stick gyoza and kirin beer. Flavor was so rich on both ramens and the spicy level was spot on for the tantanmen! So so good! 10/10 recommend!!

Best takoyaki I’ve ever had! I’m gonna have to say this is probably the best Ramen place in Hilo. At this point I’ve probably eaten here over 100 times. Great place to get a taste of Japan cuisine.

Just LOVE this place. Amazing food with reasonable prices, and also great service. The folks who served us hustled a lot since there were a lot of customers, and they kept saying things like “Thank you so much for waiting”, “I really appreciate your patience” and “I’m so sorry for the wait”. I really respect this attitude, which is hardly to see in other places.

This was my first time in Hilo, what a lovely place. I was between the ramen and the curry and went with the curry, my friend got the Taiwan ramen. Both were excellent, the flavors in the ramen were incredible, would definitely come here again! Not crowded either, hats off to the servers as well!

Excellent ramen spot with super friendly and speedy staff. The tonkotsu miso broth is so rich and flavorful and you have many options to adjust it to your liking. Servings are well portioned too. We also added on one of the rice bowls to our order and it was so good and filling.

Good food, short wait, and fun experience at Tetsumen. We arrived early for dinner and were immediately seated at a small table (there are a few booth seats but most are “Private” bar seats). The waitress gave us a print out with a QR code where we would place our order. We were also handed a laminated menu with pictures of the food items and Japanese/English text. Other than giving us water and serving our food, we had limited interactions with her. Our appetizer of gyoza sticks came out around the same time as our ramen bowls and everything was piping hot. The gyoza sticks were good, but they were very greasy and the sauce was also very oily. Similarly, the ramen broths were the most oily ramen broths that I have ever had–there was a layer of several mm of oil on top! When I had ordered the tonkatsu miso ramen bowl, it asked what level of oil I had wanted for my bowl and I selected normal (recommended for flavor), but if I go again I wouldn’t get any oil. I ate all the ramen and pork, but didn’t finish the broth because it was so greasy. The egg was fine, but didn’t taste like it had been marinaded ahead of time so just tasted like a normal soft-boiled egg. It’s worth coming here to try the ramen, but just order carefully.

Very nice ambience, feel like in Japan once in and sat. Very easy menu on QR, all the food pics around just made more hungry and excited. Very good customer service. Easy parking access. The broth is the best and the adds on are very fresh and tasty. Bathroom very clean and good music. Is nice to stop by for a hot “soup” with Hilo weather.

Best ramen I have ever had outside of Japan. We were on the BI for a week, and this was our favorite meal.
