First time here. Got the Texas dog with cheese. The sauce plays the role of Chili but does so poorly. But that being said, it’s good and tasty. Having some friends who recently moved here, I look forward to coming again and trying the other things from the menu, many of which appear to be worthy of exploring.

Criminally underrated food at every location. When I walked into this location I felt like I was looking at a 1980s list of prices. A burger for $5.20, sides for $3.65 but hot dogs being $2 is a more than other local spots. This is easily reconciled by quality. As soon as I related my order it was brought to me before I could even fully sit down. The service was faster than the cars that speed around the 12th avenue corner the shop is located on. My friend mushrooms were a undercooked in the middle but they had the batch fried up for me only 3 minutes later. I am never disappointed when I get hot dogs and Texas Mac

All I can say is: excellent experience! The moment my wife stepped through the door the atmosphere was welcoming and warm. What really stood out was that all the staff were either smiling or laughing. This type of happy vibe, if you will, transfers directly into the food. Thank you for the great experience. I used to love these hot dogs, but now it has changed with new owners. The hot dog sauce has changed, all I could taste was the mustard, and customer service is bad. She got nasty. “Order first before you set down.” The old owner took orders at seat. Not coming back.

By far the best location of the 3 in the area. Food simply tastes better!! It’s worth a trip downtown to experience the original Texas Hot Dog location! Parking can be a bit tough during peak hours.

Texas hot dogs has been one of my favorite spots. I’ve been eating there chili cheese dogs with onions, my all time favorite dog here in Altoona since I can remember. It’s the chili that keeps me revisiting Texas Hot Dog in downtown Altoona.

This is such a great local restaurant. I love their hot dogs and you can get whatever toppings you want and most of them are free of charge minus cheese. They also have great chili macaroni and cheese. Their fried food is also really good. Had their French fries and they are so crispy. You can order on line, get it to go, or even done in. The dine in experience is what you would expect from a local hot dog joint. They do have a file your own fountain drink now which is a great addition.

The plates were tiny and thin, cheap paper, dessert plates. The chili and the hot dog itself was good but I felt the cheap hot dog buns stole a lot of the experience.
