This place should be more obvious because it was AMAZING. I usually go to the tea house across the street for banh mi but they are closed on Wednesday but I really had a hunger for one. This restaurant is literally right across the street. Don’t let the appearance deter you, the most unassuming things and places can surprise you. i had the grilled pork and it was by far the best banh mi I have EVER had. If you are spending less than $10 (which is really easy to do) then bring cash for the courtesy of the owners so they aren’t hit with stupid over charges. Otherwise cards are fine. Will definitely be coming back.

While I’ve only had the grilled pork banh mi ($4.50), it is the one of the best: hot, tasty meat, rich with flavor, topped with plenty of julienned veggies, on a delicious roll. It’s a small place, and you won’t want to hang out (except to chat with the charming hostess), so get a couple of bahn mi to go. Take a chance on a place you might not otherwise find. Yes, there’s smoking, Vietnamese karaoke, and a cast of characters milling around — call it a “cultural tour” and get a good sandwich!!

Well… came in on a Tuesday. Apparently that’s the wrong day to go. Any day but Tuesday I was told as that’s the day when the “chicken lady comes”. Meanwhile, all the seats in the restaurant were filled with what looked like store employees? I’ll edit this review after I’m able to try the food.
