Had their avenue burger. Solid. Cooked right. Good flavor. Right size and fresh tasting. Our server greeted us promptly and made us feel very well taken care of despite how busy it was during the Celtics playoff game. Ambiance was fun and the place was really clean. Will make a point to go again when l’m around Alston again.

I ate here tonight for the first time in about a decade. For the interegnum, I’ve been telling everyone who asks that the best burger in the world is the cry baby at The Avenue. Coming back, I was worried that my old favorite wouldn’t be quite the same. I’ve changed a lot, perhaps the burger that once lighted my nights wouldn’t hold up to new experiences. Fortunately it does. It’s tangy and cheesy like watching reruns of Friends or Frasier or other comfort shows from an easier time in the world.

I ordered the Birds Nest with a side of regular fries. The burger said it came with a fried egg. I assumed the yolk would be hard, but it was runny. (Note – ask, don’t assume.) I was served waffle fries, not the regular fries. I told the waitress, and she offered to bring me regular fries. I said no (because I couldn’t eat them all), but she insisted on bringing the regular fries (which I appreciated). She didn’t stop at the table to check on refills until the end of the meal. When I got the check, I was still charged for the higher priced waffle fries, although that wasn’t what I ordered.

The server came so often and asked if there was anything else to order. They came to the table about 10 times. I felt a little uncomfortable because they gave me the bill so quickly even though we didn’t finish drinking all yet.

My only comment on this place is that their pulled pork tacos are pretty good. They’re small, but they’re inexpensive, so basically if you buy 3 of them you’ll be full and it will only cost $12. That’s a pretty good deal. Coolidge Corner clubhouse (which is nearby) also does pulled pork, but they charge $18 and honestly, their pork isn’t as good.

Lively venue with great pub food and beers. Two of us had burgers that were reasonably priced and delicious. They have outdoor seating and plenty of tables inside around the bar

The basic Avenue Burger is amazing, grilled perfectly as ordered. I got it on avocados instead of bread. It came with chipotle sauce. Well worth the $6.50 I paid.
