Mistakenly booked this place for a business dinner but very happy that I did. The oven baked pizza was really, really good. The spaghetti was OK but nothing to write home about. The garlic bread though was pretty awesome and I would highly recommend trying it. The place may have been a little understaffed the day I went but I thought the staff and manager handled the patrons well. Overall a neat little Italian place to try out.

The outside with the leasing sign on the side of the building gave the idea that this place won’t be here that long.

I would have driven by this place and never noticed it if it weren’t for G Maps. What a hidden gem it turned out to be! The food is over the top fresh, creative and designed by a chef, not just a production line. The service was very good as well. Could use some help in the atmosphere department. Recommend going during happy hour for half off their five star appetizers. Def order the bruschetta!!

Enjoyed our dinner at this cool spot on Anderson Lane. The wood fired pizza and gemelli pasta was very good. Service was cold, unfriendly and unwelcoming. People who don’t smile should not be servers! Our server made it very clear that the restaurant closed at 9p so we felt the pressure to make sure she could go home on time. We had looked up the restaurant on google maps and knew that it closed at 9p so felt we were on notice that we had to order, eat and leave quickly. Glad we didn’t skip dessert because the mascarpone cheesecake was the star of the show!

Not too many places you can get arancini in Austin. And theirs is SO ooey gooey delicious. Good, wood-fired Neapolitan pizza is rarity is most towns. Add in great pasta, super friendly and courteous service and a cute, cozy atmosphere make the Backspace a real find.

I’ve been dying to try this place! I travel down Anderson Lane all the time and the retro sign always caught my eye. Today I decided to take myself on a little date and figured, what a great night to try a new place! Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the service. My server was cold and seemed to be in a rush to serve me and get me out of there as soon as possible. Not a single smile or “how are you?” He had a mustache and an hipster haircut and a yellow shirt with three flowers on it. I think he was also the bartender. He made me feel like I was a major inconvenience for him, which sucks because I really wanted to like this place. The food was good quality but the Burrata plate could have used a dash of balsamic or something. I really enjoyed my pasta though. If the service had been better, I would definitely come back. I won’t be coming back, sadly! A note to that server: please be kind, because you never know what your customers are going through.

Stopped by this spot on a Monday for dinner. It’s a very small space, about 9 or 10 tables max with a old-school, large bar and stone pizza oven in the open which added a nice touch to the space. To start we had the Burrata and the Farro Salad. The burrata was OK, but the salad was so delicious, really stood out, was hearty and had great flavor. We then got the Margherita Pizza and the Fennel Sausage Pizza. The pizzas were so good – even as leftover, the flavor in the sauce and toppings were great. Took off one start because service was ridiculously slow – again, it was a Monday Night, we were one of maybe four tables, and with a waiter & a hostess just to get a glass of water took FOREVER, the waiter did’t touch our table for almost 20-min after we sat down… dinner took us almost two hours. Staff was friendly, but we (as well as the tables around us) were constantly looking for the waiter (who would disappear back of house for 20-min at a time) and the hostess was running the bar.

We ordered pizza and a salad the Caesar salad is great I recommend it. My daughter ordered the Cacio e Pepe pasta that’s made in house. It was good.
