Overnighting in the area on our way to upper MI searching the map for a place for dinner and found this gem. First of all Mariah answered the phone when I called to make a reservation and I could tell it would be a good experience. No website but the menu changes daily and posted on FB. Look at a few menus and you’ll get the idea how creative the chef is. My husband had the house bolognese which was smokey delicious. I had tempura walleye. The batter was light and crunchy and the fish fresh and light. Mariah was also our server and was so sweet and really made this an exceptional dining experience. The drink menu is amazing with quality choices and also some creative NA choices too. Don’t normally write such a long review but this place that seems unassuming from the outside is so delightful inside. Oh, and the music was super chill too!

We were greeted promptly and seated, very friendly. Our table was clean and the whole dinning area as well. They change the menu often so you can take a chance on what being offered or call ahead. I had the Boneless Short Ribs, it was wonderful and the presentation was pleasing to the eye. They offer a short menu of specialty drinks to choose from and also craft beers too. The wait staff was attentive but not pushy. The prices are $$$ but worth the money. I’ll be going back for sure. The bathroom was clean

Awesome food with a superior presentation. If you are looking for a personal dining experience this is the place. We traveled 650 miles to have our second dining experience at the Bait Shop and will return when we are in the area.

The Bait Shop was fantastic. Look no further for some of the best food in NWI. Most ingredients are local, or farm-to-table, and they have a high end bar with a great wine selection. The menu is unique, changes daily, and is often filled with unfamiliar items. But, with a mind open to trying new things, I don’t anyone would be disappointed with their meal. All our items were cooked to perfection. There is real talent in this kitchen. The enu always has a great selection of both vegetarian and traditional options. The building is small so reservations are recommended. Service and staff were incredibly kind and accommodating as well. Though the location is less than ideal, The Bait Shop is worth the trip north of town for a try. Highly recommended.

I was looking forward to visiting this place after hearing great things. The level of disappointment is hard to put to words. I had the $60 filet. Cooked as requested, but it tasted like fake smoke, and the potatoes as a side were crunchy and under cooked. A friend had the 166 day dry aged ribeye at $10/ ounce. It was over cooked and had the texture of beef jerky. Another had the chicken and waffles that was slathered in Aunt Jemina syrup. I have had better meals at Applebee’s. Maybe it was a bad night for the chef, but I would not recommend The Bait Shop to anyone.

I always go in to get bait for the week. And the Two gentlemen that are always at the counter are always in good spirits and cheerful and very polite. And they pride themselves on getting you in and out so you can get to fishing but i find myself just wanting to chat with them because they are awesome to conversate with. Also very knowledgeable on local fishing and what to use. And prices are great

Unbelievable. And not in a good way. Interacted with a Mariah, who actually wrote her number on a receipt and gave it to my husband. Disgusting and unprofessional. I will never return. Food was good though. She, however, ruined the whole experience.

the best chicken and waffles in u.s..edges out roscoes on sunset in l.a. my opinion of course. but a step up in flavor marinating combo of spice that sings mouth satisfaction..me gusta gosar!
