What a great dinning experience, the service and food was was great. I had the SHRIMP & SMOKED PORK BELLY RISOTTO ETOUFFEE. The taste was fantastic. It was definitely worth the ride from Charlottesville.

My family is new to the Scottsville area. With so few local dining options, and even fewer that were open, we decided to give the Batteau a try. While the food was good, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff was pleasant, it is unlikely we will be return customers. The menu is not “family friendly” as there were no options for children. The portion sizes are also not what we expected for the price. I also feel misled by the menu. We ordered the Batteau Burger, which comes with Batteau Fries. Batteau Fries, according to their appetizer menu, are supposed to come with an aioli sauce, but the batteau fries that accompanied our burgers did not. When we pointed this out we were disappointed to learn that we could add aioli for an upcharge. The burger entrée is already 18 dollars without an upcharge, and while it is a tasty dish, it was just not worth it in my opinion. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. We left with much lighter wallets and bellies than we anticipated.

Excellent food and relaxing atmosphere! The beautifully plated crab cakes were the Best I’ve ever had! My granddaughter truly enjoyed her plate of muscles. I prefer this quaint restaurant over any located in Richmond or Charlottesville.

We ordered take out. The portions were very, very small. The cost was about 80$. We had 2 boxes, he got the shrimp and pork dish, there was barely and pork or shrimp, i had the crabcake dinner, incredibly small crabcake with rice. We are local and tried to have dinner there last year and never got waited on, thought we’d try it again, and have to say, very disappointed, again.

Wonderful experience and food, staff welcoming. The Catfish was excellent, loved the tartar sauce, not what you’d find in a jar! Spouse had the black sesame crusted salmon, cooked perfectly. Bread pudding very very good, we’ll be baaaack!

Oh my! Oh my The Batteau was such an amazing experience! The gumbo and crab cakes were phenomenal. If you love food and like to find new places to eat, I definitely recommend taking a drive to Scottsville, you won’t be disappointed. Ask for Shawna, she is the sweetest and best server they have

Amazing food served in a cozy dining room in quaint downtown Scottsville. I had a perfect roasted lamb and the appetizer of fried pork roll was incredible. Looking forward to coming back and trying the ample selection of wines as I was taking a sober break when I visited!

Just a quick update to say we returned and once again everything was outstanding. The food was great and extra thanks to our server Jesse for exceptional service and also going above and beyond to track us down and meet up outside of work the following day to return a charge card we left by mistake. Couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience! We have eaten here multiple times and have never been let down. Good to know we can count on The Batteau!
