Good beer, food and service. First time here, I was thinking it was going to be expensive; but, the prices were good. So we’re the portions. If u like Brussels sprouts, you will like the appetizer. Very cozy with a fireplace and all. I’ll definitely go back. The bar was a nice size, not exactly a great place to watch sports – more of a cozy place. A few beers on tap but nothing major.

Loved my Onion Soup… haven’t had it in awhile and it didn’t disappoint. The Chicken Potpie was delicious, loaded with more chicken than vegetables, a tasty gravy and covered with puff pastry. My husband really liked the Squid Ink Pasta with Bay Scallops he ordered. His side salad was fresh and a nice mix of veggies. The Pub’s interior is very interesting…almost feels like a restored barn? Would have liked to see the inside of the old tavern, but only used for large parties. The Tavern/Pub’s location has been serving travellers since 1742!

I used to love this place. Stopped by for lunch and was looking forward to what used to be my favorite chicken pot pie.poor service from the get go. took awhile to get service even though it was pretty empty. Finally got my wine in a drippy wet wine glass. Then out comes a very burned pot pie. The ( now 3rd person) server drops it in front of me and turns around and walks away.After getting her back I had to ask for one that wasn’t burned.Why would the staff send out food that way? Disappointing.

Nothing is fresh here at the Black Horse Inn. I review restaurants and watch who delivers the supplies for restaurants. How farm to table is really freezer to plate. How can USA Foods and Sysco say they sell fresh. Fresh frozen is more like it. Pre-scored burgers? Check. Frozen soups? Check. Frozen fish? Check. Ok the salad greens are bagged. Fresh enough, right?

We are at the restaurant across the courtyard. Prices are very reasonable for the quiet romantic atmosphere. Wait staff are very efficient, pleasant and quick to refill our Prosecco from the side table ice bucket. Delicious and relaxing!!!!

Visited the Black Horse Tavern & Pub on a warm weekday night. The food my boyfriend and I had was great- thumbs up for the fried chicken (supposedly the best he’s ever had) as well as my filet mignon. Drink-wise we had the limoncello mule and the grapefruit mojito, which were both decently good but nothing phenomenal. Our service was fast, waitress was friendly and very accommodating to allergies.

The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. We sat in the curved booth. It was a bit dated. The carpet needs replacement (or just removal), and there was broken wood around the back of the booth. The food left much to be desired. We had to add salt to everything. The guacamole was extremely bland. There was no salt, pepper, lime, or cilantro. It was just a smashed avocado with 3-4 pieces of diced tomato and a few pieces of onion sprinkled on top. Even the chips were bland. The herb crusted salmon was a piece of plain baked salmon with an herb puree drizzled over it after being cooked. It was tasty, but certainly not what was name of the dish described. There was nothing ‘herb crusted’ about it. The spiced carrot puree side tasted like boiled carrots that were blended in a food processor without any spices. Jarred carrot baby food likely has more flavor. The scallop linguine was also bland. They serve bay scallops instead of sea scallops. The fried calamari appetizer had good flavor, but was very greasy. The wine and cheese bubbly shrimp was mediocre. The shrimp were very small, like what you might get in chain restaurant that buys in bulk. I would actually expect this appetizer at a chain restaurant. I can’t say enough how wonderful the staff was. Our waitress was great. The food was very disappointing.

Unfortunately it’s gone down hill over the past few years. Food is just ok but the worst part is the service. From the moment in the door; the hostess looked like she was miserable. Then our server was so slow… Even just for a water… And at the end waited 15 minutes for her to collect the check. And not even a goodbye thanks for coming on the way out. So poor food and service. It’s off our list.
