The Black Stallion, located on Route 5 in Vernon New York, was established in 1972 by Gino and Maria Vullo. Gino and Maria’s love for their native Italian cuisine and their ability to make all who dined with them feel special and welcome, is the reason that the restaurant is still successful today.
In 1986 the Vullo’s only son Sal took over as the sole proprietor. Sal runs the restaurant in the same fashion as his parents, combining his Italian heritage and his American upbringing. The Black Stallion is one of the oldest family owned and operated restaurants in the area.

Their French Onion Soup might be the best I’ve ever had. The Chicken Francaise was excellent, and so was the Blueberry and Apple Cobbler. Our server Brenda was really personable and attentive.

Our waitress this go around was absolutely the best!!! She was friendly and interactive (I wish I was better with names!) We got the chicken Milano to share!! It’s such a beautiful combo of chicken and seafood stuffing!!!

My wife and I were looking for a restaurant to enjoy a early dinner. Our son recommended The Black Stallion so having never eaten there before we decided to give it a try. Boy are we glad we did!! We were the first patrons there as we got there as they opened. We were treated like long time customers right from the start. Jenny our server and the entire staff were so attentive and friendly. We were full after our meal but we made sure to bring home some homemade desserts. I highly recommend The Black Stallion and we definitely will be eating their again when we are in town. The food was excellent and the perfect portions. Lastly I will say the french onion soup was too die for. Made fresh every morning I was told. Probably the best I have ever eaten!

It was ok. We were seated fairly quickly, so that was good. Service was fair. Could have been more attentive. Food was ok, nothing special somewhat bland, to me anyway. The place was quite busy, so some like it. I guess the best bet is to try it to yourself to see if you like it.

This place is absolutely AWESOME. The remodel is gorgeous and the space inside looks way bigger then before. I was immediately seated and waited on which doesn’t happen often in other restaurants. You will be getting an amazing bang for your buck as far as serving size goes! The wooden tables and chairs, the marble trim, and down to the last detail on the luxurious carpet, make this a MUST SEE! Anyone within a hundred-mile radius who does not visit this place will regret it. If you are staying in the area or visiting, you NEED to see this. The staff is always polite, and attentive to the guests. Good for family outings, intimate dates, or group celebrations! It’s even a good place to hang out at the bar, and have a casual drink! All in all, AMAZING!
